Absolute Lifesaver for Electronics Work – Makes Tiny Component Markings Crystal Clear!
This T TAKMLY handheld digital microscope has been a game-changer for me—my eyes just can't read the super-small numbers and markings on transistors, ICs, and other SMD components anymore without major strain. At 5 stars all the way! The 500x magnification (with fixed focus) zooms in perfectly on those tiny details, and the 2.0-inch IPS color screen shows everything sharp and in realistic colors right on the device—no squinting or extra glasses needed. The built-in LED lights (8 of them!) light up the area evenly without glare or shadows, making it easy to identify part numbers, pinouts, or defects quickly. It's portable, charges via USB, and connects to PC/Mac if I want a bigger view or to capture photos/videos for reference. No more frustration during repairs or sorting parts—this thing saves my eyesight and time on the bench. Great build quality for the price, easy to use (just hold it steady at the right distance), and the battery lasts plenty for sessions. If you're into electronics, soldering, or any fine-detail hobby and your vision isn't what it used to be, grab this—it's worth every penny. Highly recommend

Third time's the charm!
Updated Review: I definitely had some problems with my first two microscopes. The second seemed to have been a problem with the USB cable, so that explains that. The first is still a mystery. Maybe wear and tear or something I simply didn't notice. Luckily, with the latest one everything is working as intended. For some reason it works with more functionality with the accompanying software. I'm not sure how that is possible, but I'm definitely not complaining! It's worth noting that I still use this microscope solely attached to my PC via USB cable. I have tried it out wireless with my phone and it worked flawlessly. If you happen to have any problems with your microscope do not hesitate to reach out to the seller - they provide great customer service! - - original review below - - I've gone through two of these microscopes already. I treat them with care, as direct, etc. I really enjoyed the size and design of this microscope, the lighting, just about everything. My first microscope worked great but inexplicably stopped working after about 5 months. It started with losing the picture through the software when using it on my PC. I'd reconnect it, power cycle it, reinstall the software - everything. Eventually it just stopped doing anything. Unfortunately at that point I was well past my return or replace option, so I bit the bullet and bought another one. The second one worked for about two days before I'd lose picture (screen/image would simply go black). I'd have to stop recording and start again and the picture would come back. Then that "fix" stopped working. I'd have to close the software or restart the microscope and then it would work - but for only 2 more minutes, max. That one I was able to return. I still plug in my old one every now and then in hopes it will just start working again. Maybe one day. I really loved this microscope, but it's WAY too unreliable.

Great pictures
It was a little quirky to set up. Tried 3 to 4 times with no success. Went back to the instruction sheet to verify I was doing the correct process. I was doing the install correctly. Checked my wifi service and it was fine. Reset the scope to factory settings. Still did not work. I was persistent and for no apparent reason it finally connected through my wifi. I could not save pictures to my iphone without granting full access to my photos. I dont like that it uses it's own unsecure network for wifi. Once you get through all that it really works great. Easy to use and focus. I'm using it to view trichromes. It does an excellent job. Great detail and clear pictures. If you can get past he techy stuff it really is pretty incredible.

Frequently returned item.
There’s a reason Amazon appends the warning “Frequently returned item” to the bottom of the advertisement page. It warns, “Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item.” Okay, that’s why I’m here. This is probably a decent optical device at a super-cheap price, but only if you can get it to work. Every electronic device sold should have a set of detailed operating instructions, either in written form inside the box or online, or on YouTube, so every basic operation of the device is identified and it’s operation is fully explained. This device has operating instructions that overwhelmingly deal only with connecting the device to a computer. Basic functions are poorly explained. They don’t outright say the device is not compatible with an iPad, but I’ve researched that issue on the internet, also with AI assistance, and this device is not compatible with an IPad, at least not with an iPad Pro running iOS 26.5. The device works okay as a lighted magnifying glass with a 2” screen. The photo feature using the onboard 100-page memory is unworkable. When you take a picture that’s blurred or you want to delete it for any reason, there’s no way to delete the bad ones. The instructions provided don’t mention how to delete bum photos. There are no online resources or videos that mention it, and a Google AI search produces only the hallucination of a procedure that isn’t sourced and doesn’t work. When you press the button to delete, the screen displays “Goodbye” and shuts itself off. Time after time. Even a power-off reset (POR) won’t reset the photo memory or restore the photo feature to a new start. That’s a deal breaker. On mine, the software seemed to work in the first few minutes, then got stuck on a page that required setting the date and time for photo purposes. I re-entered the data several times, but the program keeps getting stuck on that page. I don’t mind getting stuck in a program if I can research my way out of it, by searching the internet or some other online resources. However, there is no online help for this product. It’s stuck. You’re stuck. That’s why the star rating is what it is, and why it’s being returned. If I were a seller, I’d be sure my product had complete operating instructions and a troubleshooting guide online or in-the-box, written and presented by a competent technical writer so frustrated customers don’t give up and frequently return the item. What a waste . . . Three stars because it works as a magnifying glass at a cheap price. Zero stars because nothing else works.

Bought for Trichomes and it servers it’s purpose.
I bought it with the sole purpose of viewing the trichomes on my plants and it does well at that. You can zoom enough to see if they are cloudy or not. The coolest thing happened however - We liked it so much we started looking at other things like my kids slime (to show her we were not kidding how gross it actually is lol) and hair and microchips. It was really cool to see that part of the world seeing as it has been a while since we were in a science class. AtI 30$ and it severs the purpose so I am very happy with it. I saw no difference in picture quality using the PC cable or the app on my tablet over Wi-Fi, so i’m not sure what the reviews on here mean about that difference. I saw none. You can see in the uploaded pictures the picture quality using the highest focus (not the zoom buttons, but the zoom wheel. The zoom buttons are dumb and I do not use them ). It is not like the Hubble telescope good, but it is perfect for what I needed. Also that blue background is a notebook and it made the experience better by seeing all the DPI paint dots the manufacturer used to make the color on of the cover of the notebook. Gave it a good vibe anyway. All in all it is great IF your purpose is like mine - A good view but not medical grade view.

Absolute Garbage, now that MaxSee doesn't work
Garbage - Totally agree with other "1 star" reviewers. This scope WAS good for WiFi while MaxSee was working. Now, it is a paperweight. I have tried all other apps (Android), and nothing, including the one recommended by Takmly, will work more than 2 seconds before freezing and disconnecting. Too bad, it was good while it lasted. Now it goes into the trash, and I am looking for one of the competitors (that will work). Let me clarify something - At best, it as, in my opinion, a "toy". The adjustment dials are WAY too sensitive, and you really have to have this mounted on something for it to be usable. For coins, on a stable base, where you can eventually set the focus on a specific point and swap coins (not moving the camera), it works well. Move the object, not the camera. More 'clarification' - to give you some idea of the sensitivity of the adjustment dials - on a 'regular' microscope, you could turn a dial maybe 3-5 full times to adjust the same that this does in maybe 1/2 turn. There is no fine tuning unless you are really lucky. For anything else (like looking at trichomes on a growing plant), it is close to useless. You have to be REALLY lucky to hold the camera still, at the right distance, at the right spot, for more than a second to have a chance to snap a photo. Again, a tripod mount would help here, but it was more of a challenge to use than it was worth. To be completely fair - IF you are hooking this up WIRED to a COMPUTER (NOT a phone, NOT using Wifi), and you are using the base (NOT handheld), and you are looking at something like coins, paper money, or fabric that you can slide into the focal area, you should be ok. Wireless, however, go find something else. Update 8/12/24 - after re-reading the review above, I do stand by what I said. I purchased this device when it DID work - when MaxSee worked. I used it for coins, stamps, and observing trichomes. While WILDLY sensitive and almost impossible to use if holding in your hand (I purchased a microphone stand to mount it on so it would be stable for looking at plants), it will work if mounted on a stand, AND connected by a wire to your computer. The wireless connectivity (the only reason I purchased this particular microscope) disappeared when MaxSee stopped working. You would think the company (Takmly) would develop and support their own software for this device, instead of relying on someone else.

You got to put it on top of the thing for it to be clear. Otherwise it’s great!
It’s really a good product you just got to know how to use it. I was using it like a normal magnifying glass and the image was very blurry. However, when I started to really put it close and I mean you really gotta put it on top of the thing, it’s quite remarkable. I’m very grateful for it because my nephew decided it would be a great idea to grab a cactus and got stung and it hoped us see clearly where the thorns were. It has a great gift value and very much worth the money. So far it’s got a great battery life. Only charged it once and it’s still good, mind you I don’t use it very often but I haven’t had to charge it with every use. Haven’t tried out the connectivity but not holding out too much hope because I own a MacBook and I haven’t found any software compatible with it but who knows? Overall good buy and very useful.

Impressive
Having access to this level of magnification and be able to take pictures/video is kind of mind-blowing. I thought it had to have a cable to work with a phone but it doesn't, it connects via WIFI. I used it both on PC and phone and it worked as advertised. The stands are low quality, I would have gladly paid more for higher quality ones but I can't complain because overall it's a steal at the price I paid (CAD$45 or so).
