I bought this cable to connect a Casio WK-3800 to a computer. I inspected the receptacles on the rear of the instrument to determine the type of USB connection required. While I did not get this cable specifically for the Yamaha Tyros 4 (that I also own), I note that it would work to connect that device to a computer. The appropriate receptacle on the back of the Tyros 4 is labeled "to host." There is a second "A" type receptacle next to the "B" type that is labeled "to device" so that it appears that (at least on a Tyros 4) it is possible to daisy chain multiple USB devices. (That doesn't say if there are drivers available to support any/all such devices.) Since Yamaha is the manufacturer of the PS3, it is likely that it has a similar port arrangement -- however, you should inspect the back of your PS3 and see what ports are present, since specific features depend on exact models and date of production. (Specs can change over time.)As others have noted, this cable is most commonly used to connect to a printer. Most other USB devices use an "A" to "A" cable if needed. An additional consideration is to always use the shortest possible cable for any application, as signals tend to degrade over distance ... this is especially important with daisy-chained devices, since there is a maximum allowed combined cable length (the specification mentions a length that I can't recall, but in practice the quality of the cables will affect the actual signal strength, allowing longer or shorter cable runs as the case may be.)
