Does it work with Latitude 7430?

It should. This one is rated 90 watts vs. 60 watts for the stock one you are asking about. The extra watts shouldn't be an issue.

My current power supply is 40 watts. what is the benefit of this higher powered unit other than powering accessories through a hub?

The charger will charge your computer or device faster than the usual charger. In my opinion its nicer too and easier to put away or conceal if you are traveling with it. It seems a but longer too. Id say its worth buying if you just have the regular charger and you want a better and faster one
