Fast Facts for Stroke Care Nursing: An Expert Care Guide

I used this book and “Stroke Certification Study Guide for Nurses” by the same author to study for my SCRN exam and passed! One of the benefits of this book is that is short and to the point so it does not feel overwhelming to go through. I do have 13 years of stroke nursing experience but I only studied from these two books for a month and they prepared me well.

Great reference book. I was able to review it over a couple days. I passed my SCRN on the first try!

The book is great.

It’s exactly what it says. I have it in my work bag. The info is perfect for me on a PCU floor and as a SCRN.

Only book a stroke care practicing will need to pass SCRN certification along with one practice exam. Straight to the point and easy to read especially if your not a reading type.

This is everything you need to know to pass the scrn. I did this plus the actually scrn expensive study material and this small book was way better. Not as time consuming and gave you all the information you needed

This book is mostly well-written and easy to read. The book contains a lot of great information, just not what I thought it was going to be. If you’re NOT looking at this for SCRN review stop reading and buy; if you are continue reading. My first gripe would be that the “Fast Facts” that end up italicized in their own box are not germane to the SCRN review process or really useful to practitioners at all. My second gripe is that 55% of the SCRN is Hyperacute, Diagnostics and Acute stroke care; these are some of the shortest sections in the book. I know this book isn’t meant to be a direct study guide for SCRN but even as a resource for mid-level providers or ICU nurses, it skims over things like EVDs and other acute care interventions. There is NO pharmacology in this book. None. Zero. Nada. Nein. The format is easy to read and there is good information, especially in the A&P sections at the beginning, but after those sections I feel like it drops off and condenses important sections like, oh I don’t know, acute care interventions. I would say this is a decent resource to have at your disposal but by no means much of an SCRN study guide or go to for an Neuroscience ICU nurse.
