Good, but not perfect
Overall, this book is good for homeschooling families to do art projects together. I think this book works for grades K-2 and probably would not do this with pre-schoolers. I liked the variety in projects and the artist bios in the corners. However, not having any experience with art REALLY handicapped the process and execution of the book. I did not really understand what some of the supplies were - still don't so I just use card stock. I had to buy a large number of art supplies which cost a lot of money up front, because I had none of this in the house. Then I really did not know how to use the items properly, clean them properly, or store them properly... so yeah I needed a bit more detail for neebies. Also the instructions were not detailed enough for someone who knows NOTHING about art. The printing on acrylic plate for example just did not get the results in the book and I don't know if I used the wrong watercolors or if the kids were letting it dry too long before printing or if pressing down on the page caused issues... It just looked nothing close to how beautiful the images in the book did. Basically too much trouble shooting for someone who has no clue in art (I do textile and stitching arts which is way different than painting.) Even with all those issues, I think its a great book. I just wish I had more detailed instructions and more sample projects to show kids to get their creativity sparked. In the end, I would say my kids just did not get as much value as I hoped because all they wanted to do was draw robots or aliens.

Very Helpful
I am not an artist but I often do art with children. This book is full of very achievable projects that can be used exactly as written or used as inspiration for a project of your own. The pictures and written directions are so clear that things I haven't been able to do with children now seem possible. The book has really inspired me to let the children create.

Wow art lab.
Could you get these ideas on pinterest? Yes. But it is way easier to have them already put together for you. The first two projects are very fun and quite cool. This book will make you give your child's art teacher a side eye. It is a great enrichment and is a nice tool to aid to your summer activities. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Resource for teachers and parents!
I love this group of books and use them to stimulate me with ideas for the private art lessons and general art curriculum. I have tried many of the projects and the instructions always work and attain the goals of the project. I love the colored photos and pictures illustrating directions in each project idea!

Little too advanced.
I was looking for something I can do with my 2.5 year old son who doesnโt go to preschool yet. Majority of the projects are painting and drawing which I felt were too difficult do him. I wish there were more variety. Also, i with they were sorted by age. It is hard to pick ones to try.
