Excellent budget speakers
I just have to say, this is one of my better online purchases. The speakers have a sleek, appealing design; the woofer is big but not too big that it gets in the way. When I first plugged them in I was instantly happy with the sound quality. But then I cranked up the volume and power to the woofer... all I can say is it blew me away, almost literally. I never expected inexpensive little computer speakers like these to produce such crisp sound and still manage to rattle the walls in my house (from 2nd floor all the way down to the basement). Pros: - Great speakers for anyone on a budget (such as a poor college student like myself) - Relatively compact size fits anywhere on a desk nicely, but they aren't so small they sound bad - Surprisingly strong woofer gets your house thumping, if you so choose - Separate volume control for sub woofer, easier to control your sound - Long input cable so you have more freedom to move your speakers around your desk - Input is a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, so it works with anything (laptops, phones, mp3 players, etc) Cons: - Sound gets a little fuzzy when you turn the volume up too awfully high on heavy bass songs (but that's too be expected with almost any speaker anyway) - Because its input is just a headphone jack, the overall quality isn't the best (compared to speakers with component, hdmi, or even usb input) - No alternate headphone jack input, so if your computer only has one headphone jack you will have to switch around your wires if you want to change between speakers to headset (not that this is a huge problem, but I noticed other brands had this feature and I could see how it might be handy) Overall, I would recommend these to anyone looking for a good set of computer speakers. I have had mine for a couple weeks and have had no problems with them burning out or anything like other people have mentioned (maybe they just got a bad unit? idk). Let's face it, they are not the best speakers out there, but I challenge you to find a better setup for $40 or under.

Epic
I was between this or a $23 logitec 2.1 speaker set. I went with this set mainly because of its great reviews (except the occasional moron who use the set for television or complain because they can't mount it into the headrest of their bed). The wiring has plenty of length, I had lots of extra room to space them how I want(I had to re-wrap the extra wire with the twist ties). The lack of magnetic shielding on the woofer isn't a big deal unless you plan on stacking it on top of your tower. The sound quality is excellent for all my music (I listen to techno, rap, rock, classic rock, metal, and some of the gay but catchy hip hop, everything but country). The controls for the volume and woofer are convenient, and I keep the volume around 1/4 and the bass around 1/2 for loud music. I still have to turn the bass down for some of the rock and metal because it drowns out the vocals. I am amazed at the price (I was about to pay $60 at another site after shipping) with amazon's free shipping (from [...]). I received it two days after I purchased it (four days before estimated arrival). This was a great buy, I highly recommend it for all gaming and music. My brother is replacing his set of speakers with one of these now that he's seem mine.

Big sound, small price
These are extremely affordable speakers with a bit more sound than I was expecting. There's definitely some downsides, but for the price I can't really complain. Get them if you need a basic set of speakers with a bit of bass. Pros: The bass is deep enough to light up a room. it's not so loud you'll wake up the neighbors, but it'll be enough for a small to medium room. The highs are actually very nice. The tabletop speakers are bright and loud enough. Cons: Their are no mids whatsoever. The tabletop speakers are far too small to give you a full sound (and they have virtually zero depth); the one bass speaker is dedicated to bass. That means anything in the middle just isn't there. It has problems with shielding noises and headphones. I frequently got a 'click click click' sound with headphones. I finally figured out it was my monitor interfering and moved it around. Trouble is, the base is so small it inches toward the monitor and I have to move it back. Controls are minimal and clunky. One bass wheel adjusts bass, On/Off button works just fine and the volume wheel is small and not easy to adjust without grabbing the whole unit. I'm not too surprised at the "cons" for the price. I put up with them because I wanted a cheap replacement, and for that, these speakers work perfectly.

The loudest, clearest, easiest to operate computer spearers on the market. I own 4 sets!
Forget the stupid spinning wheel thing that turns the speakers on and off and always falls off the desk onto the floor. These speakers have an on/off switch at the base of one of the speakers and these little suckers crank - really. I love my music and love my computers. I have a semi-professional voice over studio in my home and these speakers are almost as clear as my very expensive studio monitor speakers. Like any other speaker the bass gets garbled slightly as you begin to max out the speaker's volume but that volume is still louder than anything else I've found out there. I bought 4 sets in all so that pretty much tells it all. ***************************************************************** ADDED: I don't understand some of these reviews. Either people are completely tone deaf or everyone is an audiophile with an ear that can distinguish perfect pitch. As an "average Joe" who also moonlights in the voice over business and understands sound quality and its reproduction, for $40 you cannot beat these speakers. As I mentioned above, I have 4 pair. The first pair I bought well over a year ago and they are still going strong. I've heard other speakers at this price level and others at higher prices and these are as good if not better than any $70 - $90 speakers you'll find out there. Push the button and add them to your cart. You won't regret it unless you are looking to achieve $1500 sound from a $40 pair of speakers.

A great subwoofer with cheap $5 desk speakers.
The desk speakers are low quality and some of the worst i've ever owned. They already sound like they've blown, and I never turn anything up to full blast, and they are designed to fall over at the all-but slightest touch, due to the half oval base that is very thin in the back. The actual speaker only takes up the bottom half, and the top half of the speaker is not even a half inch thick from front to back. It is only an thin, empty case up there. It makes you feel like you got ripped off a bit because they are only that tall for show, to mislead buyers who look at the main photo. In contrast, the subwoofer seems to be of excellent quality and feels like it is worth the price. It has a nice weight to it and puts out beautiful and powerful sound. I have zero complaints about it and its performance for me has been nothing but top-notch. Feels like they slapped crappy tweeters they had left over with a good subwoofer to get rid of old components. They are good replacement speakers but I will be going with a different manufacturer when I replace them, though i'll try to do something to keep the subwoofer as part of my sound system.. Overall, they are good but i'm disappointed as some of the sound crackles after just the first day of use, though the subwoofer puts out excellent sound and has weight to it where as a light breeze would knock over these flat desk speakers,

Excellent speakers for an EXCELLENT price!
I received my CA-3550 2.1 speakers via UPS yesterday. I had them hooked up to my older model Sony PlayStation 2 using the INCLUDED adapter within a few minutes. Upon completion of the hookup I turned them on, placed a game in my PS2 and - WOW! I couldn't believe the sound quality for the price... they blew me away. The blue lights on the front of the right and left speakers (not on the subwoofer) are an added bonus too! I'm not sure why others give these speakers a low rating and say that the bass is "muddy" or they hear static. Obviously they don't know how to set up speakers or are simply hooking them to a low-end electronic device... After adjusting the volume and the bass these speakers sound better than the MUCH more expensive Monsoon speakers I have hooked to my PC. I'd come close to saying they sound almost as good as two of my Sony 5.1 surround speakers I have in my living room that cost me several hundred dollars! (I said "almost" as good)... I know I made the right decision when I purchased these speakers on Amazon.com. I simply wanted something that sounded better than my regular TV speakers when gaming, and I ended up with MUCH more than I expected. Get yours today!

They Work For Me!
I've only had these about a day, and I'm no audiophile, but I think these speaker sound great. I don't hear any noise or static, even when I turn the volume up, and they are still clear if you turn the volume down real low. If you are the kind of person that likes their bass to cause your insides to vibrate when you turn up the volume then you will be happy. And if you don't you can just turn the base down and still enjoy your music. Being old school, I prefer knobs for controls, mainly because my desk is always crowded. But once I figured out that I could adjust the "Bass" with the right hand and the main with the left I was content. I'm sure there are those who will appreciate the effort the designer put into making them look elegant. But I tend to knock mine over now and then, and I think the old box shape gave them a better chance of surviving. Not a negative, just a personal observation. Bottom line: It's a good set!

Worked for 2 days then the crackling and pops sounded.
I ordered the speakers, they came on time and were going to be part of a computer system that my dad and I were building over the holidays. I tried them out on an older computer and they worked fine and sounded good, particularly compared to the small, cheap speakers I was used to. Approximately two weeks later, we built the new computer and plugged these speakers in. They worked for 2 days and then the crackling and popping on the right speaker (tweeter) started. I've tried these speakers on two other computers since then and the problem replicates itself, therefore the problem is the speakers and not the source of the signal. Given the other reviews of these speakers and the quality of the materials, it's a wonder they worked at all.

I am very happy with these speakers
I am very happy with these speakers! A great sound for a small price. No distortion at high volume and a deep bass sound. I use compose music on my computer and use it like a three man band and play along with my electric guitar. Great sound and volume.

Better not like it loud...
Maybe I expect too much but 15 years ago I bought Dell2.1 speakers for $80 that put these to shame. As other reviews say, "thunderous bass" - at 1/10 volume. Turn volume up to half and you might as well turn off the sub for the distortion it emits. I would return them but would have to pay half the value to ship back. Do not recommend.

Sound product
Nice compact good sound without all the clutter. Wire are of a good length and controls are easy to us.

Great for the price.
Great sounding set at this price. It is great to have the separate base control and volume control on the bottom of one of the speakers, not separate as on some other models. Would recommend!
