If you have hard water or iron issues BUY THIS works great on small pool
Learn from my mistakes, don't waste all your time & money this summer. Here is how I cleared my brown iron infested pool up in just 3 days! We decided to attempt to set up a pool again this year & I forgot how tedious the whole process is, but this filter ended up being a savior! I decided to start small and ordered the 8ft intex pool from Target (99$) & although it claimed it came with a filter pump it didn't. I figured it was a small pool so I could get away with a small pump so I ordered an off brand 330 pump ($79). We have a septic water system so our water is full of iron thusly when we filled the pool it was super cloudy and murky. I hooked up the small filter and ran it for 10 days straight, cleaning out the cartridge daily and adding chemicals constantly...the water was slightly better but still very cloudy and brown (see 1st picture) and the iron particles that would settle on the bottom were too fine to vaccum up. After doing some research & reading a ton of reviews I decided to buy this filter. I knew from the reviews I needed to buy the adapters since I have a smaller pool, I got them for $16 here on Amazon. I read the gasket is not necessary & since it was a $60+ part I decided to hold off on that. While it works great without it it enables you to turn the water flow off for pump maintenance so it is helpful, I think eventually I will be getting one. The adapters are 100% necessary as the fittings are larger than the pool. So the filter & adapters came in just 2 days. It was super easy to install, took me like 30 minutes to do myself. If you're like me and super new to pools intex has some videos on YouTube that help a lot! I will admit the dual suction threw me off since the smaller filter only had 1 intake 1 output. Initially I installed it backwards & had 2 output hoses and 1 intake hose. The next day I realized my mistake and switched the hoses to 2 intake and 1 output. But, it still worked well that first night, that's how amazing this filter is. Being that my pool is so small this filter is super powerful!! The suction power is amazing & the output comes out like a hot tub. That old small pump didn't even move the water around, this one actually circulates it. If you're like me and have hard water or iron issues Google "pool sock method". I filled socks with pillow stuffing and zip tied them to the output hose than rinsed them clean a few times a day. The helped to collect those tiny stubborn iron particles. After the 1st night of running this filter the water was 80% clear (see 2nd picture). I was pleasantly surprised!! I continued using the pool socks and shocked the water the next day & it was 90% clear (see 3rd picture). After a few days of maintenance, chemicals and the occasional vaccum (I have one of those cheap pool vacs that hook up to a garden hose), I went outside to find the water 100% crystal clear!!!!! Literally all the iron particles GONE!!! Since it was super hot here last week the water feels amazing!! I feel like I finally conquered my greatest challenge yet...the brown pool water, and I owe it all to this filter!!! Yes it was a little more than I initially wanted to spend for a little pool, but it was SO worth it! I wish someone would have told me that before I wasted money on a subpar filter & weeks of having a brown pool no one could swim in!! Now that I have this amazing filter and know it works so well I plan on upgrading to the 12ft poolnext year... I just have to level out the ground better... (if you haven't put your pool up yet, LEVEL THE GROUND 1ST it really matters). But for now we are LOVING our little pool paradise. So if you have a small pump the upgrade is 1000% WORTH IT!

Works well on 15’ pool.
Put this on our 15’ pool. The original pump was smaller and had less bpm. This one creates alot of turbulence and is noticeably more powerful. This is a little louder than the last (smaller) one. Had for one season. Will see how it’s working this season. Would recommend.

Not bad for 65 clams and free shipping...
So, we got one of those cheap self-rising 15' x 42" 'Summer Escapes' pools last year for my kids. (I won't even go into how the liner split after only 3 weeks, and the ridiculous 4 month warranty/back-ordered from China BS we went through that COMPLETELY ruined one of the hottest recorded summer's in the state!) They come with a pump that, well, just sucks. (excuse the pun) So, new year, and a new warrenty'd pool liner, it's all up and filled in June. After a couple of weeks of not wanting to put my head underwater due to the murky water, I looked up the specs on the supplied pump. I mean, I could cup my hand over the intake and not feel any suction...at all. And the water return was so weak, it couldn't even start a mini whirlpool. The pump moved a measly 730-something g/hr. So theoretically, it would take 4 1/2 hours to sufficiently filter the entire pool. That is, if it could actually pull in water 1 foot beyond the intake! Lame. So I came on trusty Amazon to see what I could see. I found this pump and, like a good consumer, read the reviews. One review that I dug was that one customer experienced 'crystal clear water' in something silly like 24 hours. Well, I can attest to that; After having this pump running for 24 hours, my pool water was crystal clear. The pump moves 1500 g/hr. And you can feel it BOTH in the intake and the exhaust (where it's strong enough to create the necessary whirlpool to agitate the far end of the water to the intake). Another thing I read was that the pump was "loud". Um, yea...it's a PUMP. What do you expect for under $65? Stealth mode? I can assure any future customers that this pump is neither unexceptionally loud, OR annoying. Even if you had it running whilst swimming. It sounds like it should sound...a pump pumping water. But you won't have it on during swimming anyway, because it has a variable timer that shuts off automatically after only needing to be on for a few hours daily. What I do is either run the pump for 4 hours after putting the cover on for the night, or, run it in the morning when I leave for work. For a 15' pool, this is all you need to keep the water clear. Maybe longer for larger pools. Installation was simple. I attached the hosed to the new pump and turned it on. That simple. It does come with all new hoses with collar locking ends. Also, the pump kit comes with new intake and exhaust receptacles that attach through the pool liner. I didn't want to mess with changing my old ones out with a full pool, so that will wait till next year...or when this pool liner takes a dump before the summer ends (like I think it will). Quality-wise, it looks well-made and stout. As for it's longevity, I can't comment yet. Haven't had it long enough. (which is why it only got 4 stars from me) I'm hoping it last through this summer and maybe next. It should, with the limited time it needs to be on daily.

Not a fan of the redesign model of this pump
Hate the redesigned version of this pump. The hoses fit entirely different, you have to have an extra washer and "hope" that it doesn't leak. Mine was missing one of the necessary washers and I had to buy additional washers. Supposed to have a "filter change" indicator on the top but does not work. Unfortunately if you have the Intex above ground pool you are limited to what you can buy for replacements. The only thing I can hope for is that it last longer than previous versions.

Was tired of the messy job of cleaning out the sand filter every week so I replaced it with this filter. I had to run the sand filter around 8 hours per day to clean the pool water adequately. This unit does the job in 4 hours and the family is commenting on how much cleaner the water is from prior years. Just buy yourself and extra filter so you can swap it out in under a minute. Filters are reusable after a quick spray with the high pressure setting of a standard garden hose attachment. Only negative is the pump is a bit noisier than the one that came with the sand filter, but I'll put up with a bit of noise given the much improved results.

I bought this pump for my 10ft stock tank pool. It’s recommended for 18-22ft pools so it’s perfect for this. It’s quiet, super easy to use. You can adjust to have the pump run on a schedule or constantly. The only thing I wish this pump included was an intake and out take piece. Had to order that separately.
