Hiltex 10342 Sanding kit comes equipped with a full set ready for you to let your drill presses get to work right away. It features a selection of most widely used size drums that are friction fit without adhesive needed. Many sizes include half, three-quarters, and one-and-a-half-inch rubber drums, with 2 sets of fine and course abrasive sleeves. These drums will allow you to work in hand drills for freehand sanding or electric tools for a quick and smooth operation

Review: Turn your drill press into an occasional use drum sander - I've had a drill press for a long time. I COULD use a drum sander machine, especially if it was free. But I only very occasionally sand an inner curve, for example on a wooden shelf bracket. What I do with this is just put it on my drill press and while it's not as powerful or perfect as a dedicated drum sander, it gets the job done much more cheaply and without taking up my limited shop space. It takes fairly standard replacement sandpaper cylinders. They come in different sizes and textures, and not from just one manufacturer. You can clean them with an air blowing device and an eraser sold for sanders and use the drums plenty of times before they wear out--it's not like get them dirty and they're gone, that's very important because some people think so and go through a lot of them. The set is very easy to use. You just push the tube of sandpaper onto the rubber insert and screw the nut down a little, which makes the rubber insert bulge and hold the sandpaper in place. There are multiple sizes which provide for different diameters depending on what you are sanding. Far as how much this will take off, it's kind of in the middle of hand sanding and belt sanding. It's pretty fast and you will often still need a final sanding by hand with, say, 220 grit. It won't make something disappear before your eyes like a belt sander can--but it also can't get away from you or seriously hurt you. This particular set comes in its own case, which I find invaluable. I use them (honestly) very occasionally, so when I'm not using them, they go on the shelf with things like special drill bits or specific occasion screwdrivers. Then when they come out they're all in order and they're clean and I just go along the line and pick the one I want. So, summary, a great way to get the benefits of a drum sander without paying for one or using up space with one.
Review: Great for my small home shop - This is a great budget friendly drum sander kit. After downsizing my woodshop, I no longer had enough space for all my larger equipment. with this kit, I am still able to get the majority of my contour sanding on my smaller piece with my drill press. The case is perfect for storing these in a drawer or shelf, out of the way when not in use. I am very pleased that it came with extra sand paper. It is always nice when a company offers you enough product to really test it out and not use up all the material as you find your learning curve. My only gripe is that the bend a little off center if you apply excessive force. You have to remember that these aren't industrial grade products, these are home use and hobbyist products.

I've had a drill press for a long time. I COULD use a drum sander machine, especially if it was free. But I only very occasionally sand an inner curve, for example on a wooden shelf bracket. What I do with this is just put it on my drill press and while it's not as powerful or perfect as a dedicated drum sander, it gets the job done much more cheaply and without taking up my limited shop space. It takes fairly standard replacement sandpaper cylinders. They come in different sizes and textures, and not from just one manufacturer. You can clean them with an air blowing device and an eraser sold for sanders and use the drums plenty of times before they wear out--it's not like get them dirty and they're gone, that's very important because some people think so and go through a lot of them. The set is very easy to use. You just push the tube of sandpaper onto the rubber insert and screw the nut down a little, which makes the rubber insert bulge and hold the sandpaper in place. This is a great budget friendly drum sander kit.
