Really sharp & easy to use. These are nice, sharp nail clippers that cut cleanly without requiring a lot of pressure. They feel sturdy in the hand and work well for routine fingernail and toenail trimming. I like having a set with different sizes rather than trying to use the same clipper for everything. They seem well made and should hold up much better than the inexpensive clippers that tend to become dull quickly.

Ordered these to replace my work truck finger nail clippers that finally broke. These seem well built & look pretty sweet too! They are sharp & made quick work of my finger nails with precise cuts. These feel pretty solid & i think they will last for a pretty long time due to their build quality. I would definitely purchase these again!!!

Comparison between Harperton, Seki and Green Bell clippers My favorite clippers, alas, fell into a black hole. We launched a clipper hunt around the house and found an appallingly large number of clippers – but I liked none of the ten or so pairs we discovered, none of which were the lost favorites. So I embarked on a quest for new pair. It was as well constructed and as sharp as any other offering, but I also felt I had the most control with it. Even though it is quite large, the ergonomic construction makes it useful for almost any hand size. Best value-for-money: You get two clippers in the Harperton set for slightly more than the Seki and slightly less than the Green Bell. The Harperton will be good enough for most people. Best for small hands or children: Harperton gives you two sizes to choose from and they both have a smaller radius of curvature than the other two. That said, I have no problem using a wider radius on my pinky finger; my limiting factor is always the widest nails, not the narrowest. I’ll be keeping this set for the smaller folks in the household but I probably won’t use it much myself. Best for wide nails: Green Bell G-1205. The Seki SS-107 was close, but the greater control given by the ergonomic design of the Green Bell made the difference here. Best for thick nails: Green Bell G-1205. The Green Bell and Seki SS-107 open about the same height as each other and both have a slightly bigger “mouth” than the Harperton. Best for weak hands: Both the Seki and Green Bell require much less pressure than any other clipper I’ve ever used. Sharpest: The Green Bell G-1205 and Seki SS-107 subjectively felt equally sharp to me. That said, the Harperton was sufficient for the job. Unless you have weak hands, it isn’t a deal breaker. Largest Radius of Curvature: A visual inspection (i.e, this is not a scientifically calibrated measurement, folks) has the radius, from smallest to largest: Harperton, Seki, then Green Bell. The Seki and Green Bell are very close, though. So close that another member of my household reversed the two in that ranking. (Yeah, well, that’s the problem with subjective measures.) Best file: The placement (it is the groove along the top of the lever) and length (almost 1 ¾ inch) of the Green Bell makes this file easier to use. This is also a softer file than many clippers have, and is thus less likely to leave microfissures in your nail. The Harperton’s file is under the lever so you have to open it up and hold it quite awkwardly at the very end of the lever to keep it stable. It is very rough and is less than an inch long – on the big clippers. The Seki SS-107 has no file at all. That said… does anyone actually use the files on their clipper? Detailed review My stress test for clippers is my big toe. It is wide enough that it is really hard to clip my big toe’s nail without getting a heart-shaped V somewhere along the middle with most clippers. (Probably all those clippers we found were the leavings from the last time I had to buy clippers.) This is compounded by the fact that my big toe also seems to get rather thick. (Though I have no idea how mine compares to someone with, say, diabetes.) So I personally need a clipper that can handle the wide width and thickness of my big toes. Almost any clipper can handle the rest of my nails. (I had been using the same pair of toenail clippers on both my toes and my fingers for years, though.) Thus I prefer a larger radius of curvature than even most toenail clippers have, which is one reason I was neurotically possessive of the pair I had to replace. I could find almost no information on this particular point for any reviews of clippers on this point. I initially ordered just the Seki Edge SS-107 and the Harperton Nail Clipper set. (The Seki SS-106 is Wirecutter’s runner-up pick, but I ordered the toenail version.) The Seki Edge SS-107 is quite sharp and well constructed. But I felt like I had a little less control with them than I would prefer with something that sharp. There are two possible reasons for this. The first is that the radius of curvature was slightly tight and thus it was more awkward. If that was the problem, it wasn’t as obvious as it was with the Harperton and I suspect it was within an acceptable enough range that I would probably get used to it. The second, more likely, possibility is the thumb placement – it naturally falls into just one location and I prefer my thumb a bit closer to the front than this allows. You can place it past that groove, but your thumb slides more if you don’t hook it into that depression. Whatever it was, using them was awkward enough that I went looking to see if the Green Bell clippers had become affordable yet. It is possible that the SS-106, though larger than typical fingernail clippers, will be preferable in this regard to the SS-107. Both of these might be issues that would resolve themselves after I had more time getting used to the clippers. However, I didn’t feel like I needed to adjust nearly so much when I picked up the Green Bell. The Harperton Nail Clipper set comes with both a larger and small pair. They take a bit more pressure to cut through a nail, but they still cut well and are fine clippers. I never used the small clippers that came with this set, but I presume they are comparable to the large. The radius of curvature for this was, unfortunately, smaller than I prefer. But I’ll keep these in my drawer for the next time someone wants to borrow my clippers. I concur with others who say they are still better than your typical drugstore pair. But they aren’t as sharp as either the Seki or the Green Bell. The Harperton’s has the same sort of thumb groove as the Seki, but the distance from the cutting edges to the thumb is shorter on these (and even shorter on the fingernail clipper on that set) so it will be more comfortable if you prefer your leverage to be closer to the cutting edges. Although the thumb groove is more comfortably placed, it isn’t comfortable to get closer than that – the file is on the inside of the lever and it would be uncomfortably rough on your fingerpad when clipping. After getting these first two and trying them out, I didn’t quite love either pair. So I decided to look again. Wirecutter’s top pick is the G-1008. When I ordered the first time, Green Bell was phasing out the G-1008 for the updated G-1205, so neither was easy to find at a decent price. When I looked again, that had fortunately improved, though the G-1205 is still the most expensive (but now it is by a couple of bucks, not twice as much.) The Green Bell G-1205 is definitely my favorite pick of the three. Subjectively, both the Green Bell and the Seki feel equally sharp, requiring very little pressure to cut through the nail. They are about the same size, the Green Bell may actually be slightly larger. But I felt like I had the most control and the most comfortable grip with the Green Bell. And while I’m not sure about radius of the Seki, I don’t wonder at all if it is too small with the Green Bell, which is the biggest win in their favor. Although large, the Green Bell is the most ergonomically designed and I would expect it to be comfortable in most adult sized hands (unless you have very small hands.) As I said, I prefer the larger sizes, I find them easier to handle. If you don’t, the Harperton are probably the better choice, or possibly they SS-106 (though reviewers there say they are also larger than typical finger nail clippers.) Personally, I can’t see any advantage to something smaller, these are very ergonomically designed. So these are now the pair no one else in my home is going to be allowed to touch. (I made an exception to that rule for my last favorite pair, which is when they disappeared.) The good news is I like these much more than the lost favorite, so maybe the person who lost those did me a favor in the end. I’ve included some photos for comparison. Unfortunately, rotating them didn’t “stick” when uploading to Amazon. They are all in the same order, with the largest being the Green Bell G-1205, followed by Seki SS-107 and then the Harperton Toenail and finally the Harperton fingernail is the smallest in the images. How many times have your nails been mangled by your nail clippers? Seriously, they have one job to do, and yet there you are - filing the shredded edges left behind by your rough-cut nail-chewers. Then, of course, you do as everyone else does: put them right back on the shelf above your sink - for the next time you want to ruin your morning... This was me, at any rate, and I recently hit my breaking point. So off I went into the e-commerce jungle looking for my next set of clippers that would, hopefully, get me through to at least next month. Whilst scrolling through the "nail clippers" search results, I couldn't keep my eye off of one listing. See, I am kind of a sucker for a product that is well advertised or boasts a pleasing aesthetic - so I try to remind myself not to just buy something because it looks good; nevertheless, I had to investigate - so I clicked on the Harperton nail clippers. So, I am here - writing this review, so *spoiler alert* I bought 'em. They seemed to check all of my boxes. Highly rated. Sworn quality. Their customer service was touted by many others. Sure, they were on the "expensive" side, but what's a couple of extra bucks for something that is not only necessary, but could last for years. And, truth be know, curiosity got the best of me - I had to see what all the hype was about. In short: I am very impressed! They're compact and lightweight - yet sharp and effective, and the have a shockingly gritty filing pad - which comes covered by protective film. They also come with a handy, durable traveling case that holds both with ease. What all of this told me though, was that Harperton is not only a company with a quality product, their product is something in which they take pride. So I reached out to the company. Granted, I got a little goofy in my letter to them (no worse than this review so far), but I was eager to communicate my satisfaction, and to commend them for running a business in such an admirable way. Not long after, I got a reply - which lead to a delightful exchange with one of their representatives (I'm choosing not to mention their name, but, if they see this review, they know who they are). In conclusion, do it - buy them. Take that risk and be pleasantly surprised.

So I figured I would send you guys/gals/masters of tiny finger tool blacksmithery a little note of appreciation for making a quality product any dude would be happy to show off in his already over masculinized bathroom (totally not true, my wife won't let me make it look manly, but..... gotta pick your battles). For years mankind has been plagued with a never-ending threat. A threat so ever-present in our daily lives we almost never think about it, care about it, or pretend to care about it.... until it strikes! ....... hangnails. Yup, hangnails. Oh don't pretend like they don't bother you or you're too much of a stud to care... They destroy you and YOU KNOW IT! And they usually start with a crappy ass nail clip job. They can literally stop a person dead in their tracks, unrelenting in their tiny little annoying pain that grown ass men have groveled beneath their might. One wouldn't dare just rip it off! Oh No.... that could make it worse. Then the pain could increase, oh God it could get horrible, on par with that stupid little sliver you got from your cheap ass Walmart fiberglass tent pole 2 years ago setting the stupid tent up in your backyard cause little Jimmy just HAD to go camping that night, and burying itself into the side of your pinky finger, still letting itself be known every time you graze your hand across a piece of clothing.... but good luck finding that little triumph of joy to pull it out....... yeah, that kind of pain. Hangnail pain can be like that. Even better is when you realize you did it to yourself earlier and without warning with your crappy ass nail clippers that never cut well and always leave your nail jagged and prone to snagging.... on everything. Even better still when you realize you had to search for 20 minutes to find said crappy nail clippers, the whole time reminding yourself that 'this' time you'll buy a new set when you hit the store. 20 minutes later you curse and give up and buy a new set cause you had no luck finding the clippers in your super organized man life that you pride yourself so well on (you even looked in your tool-box, next to the torque wrench, cause... well.... you drank a lot of beer yesterday working on the lawn mower and maybe it was a good idea to put the clippers in the tool box after using them as snap ring removal devices, after all.... they are "tools"). Brand new clippers.... $2.99 top shelf shiny silver clippers with the bad-ass nail file and pokey wanna-be knife thingy inside.... these are gonna rock! But storm clouds are a brewin' my firends, trust me. First you cut yourself on the crappy blister pack packaging trying to open them, and not like a little scrape/drag abrasion either. I'm talking one of those deep Hellacious ones in the crease of your index finger that is sure to not heal for weeks to come, potentially matching levels of pain similar to the fiberglass sliver and the hangnail your are presently attempting to hack from existence. Well hack away my friends, cause you soon realize your super elevated top shelf $2.99 clippers cut about as good as those safety scissor you were handed in 2nd grade to ensure you never draw blood, it's too late. You've just created another hangnail..... maybe not immediately, but it'll show itself in a few days, without fail. But wait... no big deal... I've got this sweet bad-ass nail file and pokey wanna-be knife thing inside to fix any downfall of these ultra shiny wonderments of finger-care. After all, the entire clipper couldn't suck right? You just got a weird pair and need to get used to them. Yeah.... not gonna work. They cut like crap, they nail file would be better used as an actual nail, the pokey wanna-be knife thing is the only usable piece on the entire clipper.... and that's only cause it literally has to imitate a stick to dig gunk out from under your nail! I mean honestly this thing is probably worse than the so-said imitated stick... cause at least a stick doesn't pretend to be anything other than a stick! Anywho.... so you play this game about 12 more times over the next couple years until your wife surprises you with a little yellow box one day.... labeled Klipit. Ignoring the fact that this is the first time someone has gifted you nail clippers, you laugh about the whole thing and give her funny looks. But wait, where is the normal blister pack packaging? These can't really be clippers can they? Oh buddy, hold onto your ass for this one!!!! First off, high quality packaging. Not even like normal high quality, I mean like ultra top end, packaging engineering style top end, the type that you actually kinda feel good about having opposable thumbs when you open it, it's actually satisfying to hold in your hand 'when' you open it. Quality written all over it right there. Then out of the package comes not one... oh no, TWO clippers! your standard sized normal fits in your hand finger clippers, then it's jumbo big brother capable of clipping off an entire big toe! HOLY CLIPPERS OF FREEDOM BATMAN! Now THIS is what I'm talking about! They are even nicer than my torque wrench! Nice manly satin finish, no overly shiny, get blinded by the new LED lights in the ceiling from the reflection finish for this guy. Just pure well machined and well finished products of awesome. But, why is there blue tape on the han...... OOooohhhhh, nail file... right.... pbbbttthh, like those ever work...... HOLY CRAP I COULD SAND GLASS WITH THIS THING! It actually sands my nail, and sands it good, like seriously be careful kiddies... unheard of in clippers until now. Oh boy howdy, these are the shizzle right here, and I bet the wanna be knife thing is actually a knife!..... oh wait, there isn't one.... DAMNIT.... so close to perfection. Oh well, they come with a sweet yellow storage case so you can easily find them in the tool drawer now! Move over torque wrench, daddy has a new favorite! They fit right into man hands without slipping or sliding out when actuating the jaws of clipper purity, seriously these things clip so well I dare say they beat the wire cutters I resorted to using after so many useless $2.99 clippers failed to keep hangnails from plaguing my otherwise perfect life. The jaws open plenty wide for my weird ass man feet nails, and plenty of torque on that tiny moment arm for clipping right through the nail/wannabe epoxy-like substance I call a nail. But enough about me... let's continue on our path of Klipit enlightenment.... by means of pro's and con's.... Pro's: - Manly/masculine design with appealing satin finished highly machined body, and quality logo on top. - Two perfectly formed jaws of cutting doom that will destroy all nail and nail-like material in its path. Like.... really sharp here people. - Well positioned and impressively functional nail file formed right into the handle. - Very nice packaging creating a pleasurable if not ethereal sensation upon opening. - YOU GET TWO CLIPPERS!!! nomal ones and giant PI$$-OFF clippers that'll further destroy all nail and nail-like material in its path. - Sending you guys a desperate note for another under-appreciated set of clippers to keep in the bathroom cause I lost the first set in my tool box.... Didn't keep them in the yellow package for safe keeping..... but I still have my torque wrench, so go figure. - Haven't taken them apart yet (I'm kinda known for doing that), but I'm sure they will be just as pleasurable to tinker with as they are to clip with. - Showing them off at parties! - Why are you still reading the Pro list, isn't this enough for a nail clipper? Con's: - No wanna-be knife thingy for digging gunk from under your nails, or removing the snap-ring holding your wrist-pin to the connecting rod of your lawn mower engine. - Feeling like you should show them off at parties! - Ummm...... I have terrible, horrible, no-good nails. They're thin. They bend. They split. They're an embarrassment and nails like mine should have been genetically weeded out thousands of years ago. But, like cockroaches, the weak nail gene somehow survived in my bloodline long enough to get passed to me. When I have to cut my nails, regular clippers cause them to bend and split, leading to my having to continue clipping then down to get rid of the be da and splits. The results are usually what happened to me the summer before 8th grade when I cut my own bangs crooked and had to keep cutting to try to get then straight - they end up very short but somehow still messed up. Frustrated and mangled, I decided to try different nail clippers. THESE ARE AMAZING. Will they give me beautiful, thick, healthy nails? No. But they give me longer nails** because I am able to make simple, clean clips that don't tear or split my nails. I don't have to cut more than once to try to even them out. **Longer fingernails, that is. They clip my toenails as short as I care to cut them with the same simple, sharp clip. If you want long toenails go for it, but I prefer my toes to not look like they're ready to snatch up a small animal for a meal.

These clippers are very sharp to the touch. However, they do not cut through the finger nail easily. When compressed to cut , the blades do not go through. Only when clipped in very small sections do the clippers work efficiently.

Sharp and precise

Clean design, comfy grip, plus no nonsense performance. The in built nail file is useful but the best surprise was the bright yellow soft storqge case - makes finding the clippers so easy in a busy make up bag or bathroom drawer!

Good solid nail clippers, easy to use and cut well. Liked the little pouch to keep them in. (Both fit in nicely together) both have a nail file on the inside which is really useful. I looked at lots of nail clippers online and read lots of reviews. I am pleased I went with my decision to buy these as they are really good. I would recommend these.

I hate hate hate nail clippers that crush instead of cut. In this clipper set, both are sharp as a razor and the alignment of the clipper's cutting surfaces are spot on with both of them. The tin is definitely a nice touch too. I'm VERY happy with this purchase. Good on you Harperton!
