This is the second time I bought this straightener. The first one lasted almost 4 years and worked so well. Only replaced due to it being knocked down and the plastic teeth being broken off. My fiancé uses it on his beard and it gets the hair straight and smooth. It also will straighten my long wavy hair very well. I like being able to adjust the temperature. If the straightener is on, sometimes it smells like something is burning. It could be from hair left on the brush or product, I’m not sure, but for me it is a reminder if I accidentally left it on.

This worked so well. My beard is very curly and always looks a bit crazy no matter how much product I put in it, this straightened my beard beautifully and easily.

It works exactly as described! I've had this straightener for few years now and I gotta say still works great and does a great job on straightening my curly beard hair! There is a smell when using it, but I guessed it's from the products I use in my beard. Its easy to use, but does need time to cool down. Would recommend!

I had an original aberlite, and I thought it was great. Except, the little plastic pieces started breaking off the outside aluminum tines. After the 3rd one came off, I ended up burning my face pretty good. I guess they knew this cuz they redesigned it, and have multiple models. But the first one was 80 bux and the new one is 60, and Im not paying that ever year or two if its going to fall apart and injure me. Enter the Arkham (Premium). 1/2 the price, same size, heats up way faster, better heat presets, I like the buttons and the screen being on the inside instead of the outside. And they put non-heating protective tines on the outside, but still the flat ones for heating. I also have 0ga earrings, and the old aberlite had enough space in them where it would contact metal on metal and heat up the earring almost instantly. Ive been using the Arkham for a bit now and it just cant happen anymore (i even kinda tried). Works faster, maybe even a little better. Im glad I went with the Arkham. The only downside I've found is that the back of it has some heat bleed and gets hotter than the old one, so if you need to use 2 hands to get thru the thick stuff, you cant hang onto it for too too long... but its manageable.

I was wanting a second brush so I didn't have to pack my trusted Instyler for trips in the RV, and thought why not look up a true beard brush and see if it's worth it. Well, it's not. I'm not sure if it's just my hair type, but this thing doesn't really straighten mine all that well and it's frizzzy like too. I can use the Instyler one at 370 (generally use 390) and it will straighten my beard, but this thing at 450 isn't nearly as hot and takes forever to get even close to what the instyler does in a few minutes. I'll be chunking this one in a cabinet. Chalk it up to a lesson learned, I'm going to get an Instyler max...I didn't know there was a max. If it's any better than the one I have already it'll be great.

At first glance, I thought this Arkam Beard Premium Straightener was way too large. I was sold on it after the first usage. I use it every day now and my full beard never looked better. I turn it on, set the temp to 450*, and wait at least a minute to feel the heat ... brush slowly first the top of the beard, then under the beard. It straightens the beard and keeps it straight until the next day although I usually use a regular brush to touch it up later in the day. Thank you Arkam ... you've got a winner here. EDIT: Jan 31, 2026 ... I am editing my original review from Oct 2024 - 15 months. I now find that this beard straightener only heats up half of the time. I usually plug it in and leave it to heat for between 5-10 minutes. Sometimes it has heated up and will work great to straighten my beard. When I first run it through my beard, it smokes. I know it will help straighten my beard and it will stay like that the entire day. Other times, I place the brush end in my closed hand and not feel any heat at all. Those are the days the brush does nothing to straighten my beard. I'm really sorry to have to write this review because when the the Arkam Beard Straightener is heating correctly, it can't be beat. It is a superior beard brush. Unfortunately, it appears the life of this brush is less that 1 year. Arkam needs to study up on 'QUALITY'.

I decided to grow out my goatee. I have had a beard/goatee for most of my life and, since I'm working from home, figured I would try. I have never had it longer then a #3 blade on a trimmer so didn't know what it would look like. Well, I had no idea that you could have a cowlick in a BEARD! There was no way I was going to use one of those beard straighteners that looks like a flat iron. Too much work, plus I don't trust that type of heat so close to my face! When I read about ionic brushes I started to research and found this one. It had great reviews so I figured I would try. While it doesn't get rid of the cowlick, it makes it much better and easier to groom. Using the brush is simple, just plug it in and choose one of the 3 heat settings. It heats up quickly too. The entire brush head heats up, but the end of the bristles are covered so that the heat never burns your face. All you need to do is to run the brush slowly through your beard and it will straighten your facial hair, simple as that! I find that angling the brush so the bristles point downward gives better results. With my hair being curved almost 90 degrees to the left, it didn't completely straighten it, but it did a great job. Not only did it straighten the hair, it also made my beard look fuller. It was definitely much easier to style too. If you are looking to grow out a beard, but don't like it getting all grizzly and wild looking, this is a great solution. It works very well and, more importantly, won't burn your face or hair.
