Chevy LS Engine Conversion Handbook HP1566

I like the book so much I think I will drive from NC to Georgia to meet the author. Very well written. The title could easily be LS Engines for Dummies. Illustrations are clear and informative. It's easy to read and fun! I am in the middle of swapping from a LT1 in my 72 Nova to a 4.8 Silverado engine. This book could have saved me so much wasted time trying to find answers on the internet. Does it answer every question about swapping a LS engine...no but what book does? This book is a must have for anyone thinking of doing a LS swap!

I have also read "How to swap an LS engine into almost anything" and I prefer this book for multiple reasons. Firstly, because they have an ebook option so I can quickly search through the book if I come up with a certain problem while working on the car and can also blow up the pictures and diagrams on my ipad, this is simply an amazing way to do it, almost as good as having Alldata on a tablet. Plus, an excellent job is done to put the information out there about ALL of your options to tackle any particular problem. The other book was a shameless plug to one particular manufacturer which did not go to the same extent to explain the different options so the builder could decide for themselves whether that purpose built OVERLY expensive part from this one company was the only option. I don't mean for that to sound harsh, they are both great books and the company makes high quality parts and does great work. I am just trying to point out that if you are either more on a budget or like me like doing the work yourself instead of shelling out a TON of money for something you can make. Not to mention there are a TON of manufacturers out their that make excellent parts that can be used in LS swaps and this books does an excellent job outlining all of your options! So for the general hobbyist working at home in the garage who wants to put some modern GM muscle into their old ride this is it! If you are looking for a step by step of how to install the engine using VERY expensive parts all from one company (this is the easiest way, you can pretty much buy every single part you need...but you will pay for it!) then the other book is for you. The book was good enough to get me started on my engine swap to a 1969 Chevy C10. It was a little vague and some information was incorrect due to GM changes after this book was published. All in all, easy to follow and very informative.

Read the entire book a few times. Teaches you how to solve the most common problems with swaps. Real good pictures. Its more of a how to and not just info. Has the diffrent engines and what they came in. Also has a little bit of parts interchange. Like all small blocks they are all pretty much the same.

Still reading this book but, so far so good. It has a comprehensive section of LS-based vehicles with their engines and transmissions etc.... which is very helpful when searching for a donor for your project. It is full of great pictures to assist in framing an image of a procedure or modification even if you don't have an LS, tranny or etc..... in front of you. I purchased this book and at the same time, Jefferson Bryant's book, LS Swaps........ in combination. They are complimentary to each other and I would suggest that anyone interested in this type of swap do the same. Later Jay

Great for identifying the right Engine and drive train for your LS conversion. Doesn't give you all of the things you need to know to do a swap but my experience tells me that you have use a book like this in combination with another book such as Swap GM LS Series. With your car magazines and technical manuals.

lOOKS LIKE INFO WAS COPIED OUT OF OLDER BOOKS, BLACK & WHITE PICTURES NOT CLEAR VERY DISAPPOINTING. Articles of wiring Ideas would have been helpful. Too Generic

This book has a wealth of information. It answered many questions that I couldn't find the answers to anywhere else.

It contains good information but like all such books I have read so far it is a bit thin on the electronics/electrical side and on post header exhaust information such as how to retain the LS catalysts.

Good book for LS enthusiasts.
