Like to stick to a wall, etc. I want something with no adhesive, to use for sewing.** A: You may break a few needles trying to sew this. No stick but VERY dense hard plastic back. I tried to tack it on to may couch with a few stickes to keep an end pillow from falling off and I could not push a needle through. I finally got out my DRILL and drilled several attachement holes. **Q: Can this be sewn to material on both pieces to close up say a cloth bag?** A: Not this variation of Hook & Loop Velcro because you would be wasting half of the material. This is a strip where on side has hooks and the other side, instead of adhesive has loops so if it were sewn to say a garment, you would be wasting the side that is against the fabric. What you want is the version of H&L that comes in two pieces -- one that has the hooks and the other has the loops. Sew one strip to one side of the garment, sew the other strip to the fabric you want the strips to join. You seem to be looking for H&L strips that have no adhesive on the back. That version is hard to find. Thing is, no reason you can't use the strips that HAVE adhesive on the back -- you will still be able to sew it to the fabric regardless. The adhesive back strips will sew just as well -- the adhesive is immaterial, in fact it probably will be a bit of an advantage as it will hold the strips in place as you sew. In other words, if you just get regular adhesive strips with adhesive on the back, it won't prevent you in any way from sewing it to fabric and that type is certainly easier to find that H&L that has no adhesive on the back. But, to answer your question (4 years later), no this version is NOT going to work for your purpose. **Q: Are these rolls of velcro perforated every so many inches, so you can tear off a piece? Or do they need to be cut to length with scissors?** A: No, they are not perforated. They definitely need to be cut with scissors. It seems to me that perforations would limit the usefulness of the product. I much prefer being able to cut the exact length I need. **Q: need a product that has the velcro on only one side, and is smooth/non-grippy on the other. The reviews said this had a strong grip, and it does, but I didn't buy enough. Let me explain. I am using it to remodel the curtain valances in my popup camper so I can take the valances down easily when they need to be washed. The old ones were stapled to the ceiling and were quite worn out. I measured and needed 10 yards to go around the entire ceiling edge so I ordered 2 rolls (5 yards each) thinking they came like you buy Velcro in a fabric store (2 strips stuck together). But this strip is loop on one side and hook on the other, and is technically used to wrap around things to hold them together in a bundle like ropes, electrical cords, etc. To make this work, I stapled one roll to the ceiling with the hook (rough) side facing out (down). Then I sewed the second roll to the top of the right side of the valance with the loop (soft) side facing up so it can be pressed to the ceiling strip. The valance hangs down nicely and hides the Velcro strip. Now I just need to order 2 more rolls to finish the project.
