I installed the mount as suggested in the basement, hung a 90lb bag off of it and when I pushed the bag to make it swing around I could hear the inner arm make contact with the outer sleeve and make a 'click, click, click' noise. This noise was not loud, but upstairs the sound was amplified as the vibrations was transmitted right into the ceiling joist to the floor above. I had my brother sit upstairs while I threw a few punches on the bag and he said he could hear the bag swing (the click, click, click) and the jarring of the punches hitting the bag. I traded positions with him and was amazed at how much noise was being transmitted and realized this setup was not going to work at all. Returned the unit and ended up using 4 3/8" eyebolts, 4 discarded bicycle rubber inner tubes, a carabiner and a swivel for my heavy bag setup. Total cost of this setup was $20.00 (inner tubs were free) and this mounting solution is completely vibration free. The rubber inner tubes act as shock absorbers while suspending the bag at the same time. Had my brother sit upstairs in the same location and he could not hear anything as I worked on the bag.

Yes, you can just get a $15 Everlast hanger, attach a $13 heavy spring and a $10 swivel to it and be done with it. Sure, it's pricey, but when you see this product in the flesh, you'll know your money is well spent. It's extremely well made, feels heavy in the hand, and has a thick base and housing that should withstand no small amount of bag hammering. Mine holds a 70lb Everlast heavy bag, and so far I haven't felt so much as a tremor emanating from the ceiling (see my photo on the product page). Overall, a great purchase, though it did take some major wife-convincing to shell $210 for... (what???) a punching bag mount. UPDATE: 9/14/15. I've used this product regularly for a two years now, and it's still as solid as it was on day one. The high price tag was well worth it!

I've got a 100 pound heavy bag hanging from this mount. I can beat the hell out of it with my kid sleeping in the bedroom above the garage (where I have the bag mounted) and the sound is barely noticeable from his room. The spring in the mount definitely stops the shock from transferring into your walls and ceilings.

This is the best ceiling mount anywhere! Its pricey but you pay for what you get and this product is well worth the price. Absolutely no worries.
