Natural comes from nature
If you truly want something natural to dye your hair with this is a great product. It will not be fast like typical hair dyes because it is natural. For best results you will need to keep in for at least 3 hours. I suggest you do it when you don’t have to go out. It has a strong natural smell. I find it smells like cooked spinach. I have a lot of gray hair and it covers them well. The more I used it the better the results. The first time it left a few white strains, but it wasn’t bad. I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t have enough product in the area or it simply didn’t cover it due to the stubbornness of gray hair. I recommend this to the true naturalist that wants to use a product that is harmless to them and that realizes that nature takes time and can rest knowing that the nature smell although strong isn’t harmful. Also, add salt to it as it suggests it helps. I use sea salt. This product has been unavailable for a while and I noticed this isn’t the first time. I understand that it may be because it is natural and that takes time because it isn’t massed produced. But I sure hope it comes back soon. I’m stocking up this time. Also it makes your hair soft shiny and manageable.

Made my hair feel terrible!!
So I finally get to dying my hair with my sister's help. Ive died my hair many times with different products but this is by far the worst. There were no specific instructions, just "add warm water" no measurements of any kind. Just to add enough to give it "the consistency of ketchup" well I over look this and get started anyways, the powder was green and had a nice herb scent but when I started adding water it looked like mud. I finally got it to the "ketchup consistency" and had my sister start applying it to my hair. It felt like I had mud in my hair. Ive dyed my hair many times and I've NEVER had dye make my hair feel this horrible. I decided to immeadietly to cut my losses and wash it out. I will NEVER buy this dye again.

I feel badly for everyone that doesn't have a great experience with this product
I feel badly for everyone that doesn't have a great experience with this product. Yes, the smell is strong and earthy, but tapers off after a week or two. I add about a tablespoon of salt and mix with warm water. My shoulder-length, not-thick hair only requires one packet. I have Asian hair which had dk brown tones to begin with. I apply before bed (takes about 60-80 minutes(I shower and dry my hair first) - wear a junky shirt and move any rugs because it drips), then put on the shower cap and an extra wrap of saran at the edges to seal as well as possible, then use a small electric heating pad (used to use it for my cats) and put a wool cap over that (warmth helps to set the dye). A couple layers of towels on my pillows, and I leave it overnight, shower with conditioner only in the morning. The coverage is never 100%, though it increases as my technique improves. I love that it leaves little bits of grey, as well as some reddish tone; it's different and very natural looking. It definitely does an excellent job of covering the majority of grey/white, of which I have probably 10%. Not sure how it will work when the white takes over, but it seems like it will be easier to transition to no dye by that time. For now, I am extremely satisfied that I am not using harsh chemicals and killing the environment, and it's cheap!

Only OK Results - Do Not Use If You Have Bleached Hair
This product worked ok. To begin with, I have thick, light brown hair that extends to the bottom of my shoulder blades. I have used this product twice now because I heard that the color intensifies with multiple dyes. In any case, I mixed the product according to the instructions and began to apply. It was very, very messy so make sure you have towels everywhere and are in the bathroom. It was very hard to work the product through my hair - my hair would stick together in clumps which made it difficult to apply evenly. It took me about an hour and a half and both packets to completely cover my hair. I then wrapped my hair in saran wrap (the included shower cap was WAY too small to cover my hair) and waited for a few more hours (I figured more is better since it says a minimum of 2 hours is recommended). At the end of this time, I attempted to rinse and wash my hair. I believe the instructions only say to use conditioner but my hair was so stuck together with the hardened mix at this point that I had to scrub for a long time to get it all out. As a point of clarification, my hair has been dyed several times in the past. Here are the results: At the bottom, my hair had been previously bleached - this turned a dark, dark green (I thought this was a neat result, but definitely not what most people would be after, so word of caution to those with bleached hair). In the middle, it had been previously dyed red - this turned dark brown. Above that, my hair had previously been hennaed - this turned a medium-dark brown. Above that was a few inches of natural color (light brown) - this turned a medium brown. Due to the difficulty I had in applying this product evenly, there were occasional pieces of undyed hair but since my hair was already a hodge-podge of shades, this was not terribly noticeable. The color faded over the next month and I then tried again. The results were almost identical to the first time. I decided that due to the difficulty in application, the amount of time it takes to apply and to see results, as well as the less-than-ideal dying power of the product (light brown hair transforms to medium brown - not anywhere near black), that would be my final try to this particular product. I love the idea of using natural dye, but I used this because I thought it would be much easier and less time-consuming than henna followed by indigo. At this point, I am not sure that's true and the results were less than ideal. [Side note on the smell: it did not bother me but even with thorough washing, it lingered for three or four days. The smell is very grassy - not a problem for me, but might be for some people as it is fairly strong.]

OH MY GOODNESS…(edit: very itchy😔)
this product is amazing!!!! I thought I was never going to be able to color my hair black again because I’m allergic to ppd… I’ve had extremely bad allergic reactions and have been to ER several times. Until I found out about henna, I did a patch test before just to be safe, a day went by and everything seemed normal so I went ahead and dyed my hair, MY HAIR HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER, no allergic reaction🥹🙏🏻 I added salt to it and left it in for 3 hours. I couldn’t be happier with the results #henna4life. It does have a smell almost like tumeric.. the smell lingers after first wash. EDIT: it’s been 2 days and my ears and face are itching really bad it hurts to scratch cuz it burns, no redness or blistering or scabs of any short but just very intense itchyness, it hurts almost. :edit, okay I showered and the itchyness went away maybe I didn’t fully wash it off?

If you don't mind the weird smell, this stuff is great!
Usually I find natural products don't work as well as their unnatural counterparts, so I was skeptical that this would work as well as chemically based hair dye. But after one application my hair is visibly darker and looks like a natural black. I have long hair, so I bought two boxes, like I do with any other hair dye. Dye works differently on various hair, so for comparison: I have naturally straight, brown hair that had been chemically dyed a mahogany brown/red. The red had faded into a medium brown, brassy colour that looked awful and my dark roots were about 3 inches grown out. Most commercial dye takes to virgin hair well, but not hair that has been previously dyed, so I wondered if henna dye would be the same Each box has two packets of dye mix because you're supposed to apply it twice. I used both packets in the same dye session. It was a little tough to get the consistency right. The instructions say it should be like ketchup, but I had a hard time comparing the two. The first packet I mixed was a little too thick because I had a hard time saturating my hair with it. So I mixed the second packet with more water so that it would drip a little bit, but not too much. I also added salt, since the instructions say a teaspoon of salt (optional) will make it darker. Anyway this was the perfect consistency and it saturated my hair easily. The instructions say to comb it through you're hair, but that sounded like a nightmare so I didn't bother. After leaving the dye in for 2 hours I rinsed my hair in water, no shampoo. The instructions didn't say this, but I soaked my hair in conditioner. With just water it seemed like it would be a mess to try to comb through later and the dye just wasn't rinsing out fast enough. I found the conditioner helped clear most of the excess dye from my hair. As per instructions I blow dried my hair until, it was completely dried and then brushed it. The result is a very beautiful black colour and it looks natural. You can't tell where my hair was dyed before and where it was natural. It's all one colour, with the exception of a few strands that I missed during my application. The instructions say that the colour will really show after you use the second packet (or in my case the second box). But I don't find a second application necessary. It looks pretty black to me. I'll have to see how it withstands to washing with shampoo, since I haven't done that yet. Overall a good product and I would definitely use it again. Pros: -Derived from plants, doesn't damage hair - Since there are no harsh chemicals I felt comfortable massaging it into my scalp to thoroughly saturate my roots. - Doesn't burn your skin. - As easy to use as any other commerical hair dye - It cleans up very easily with water and a paper towel (I made a mess and got it everywhere, but you can't even tell) Cons: - It smells AWFUL. I don't know what herb is in there that makes it so pungent but I can't stand the smell. It reminds me of like...herbal cigarettes or something. The scent lingers a little after rinsing, but it's not that noticeable. It's just while you're soaking in dye for 2 hours it can be a little annoying. This is really the only reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. - You have to leave it in for 2 hours. I say this is a con, but I used to leave chemical hair dye in my hair for hours because I would get distracted with activities and forget I had it on my head. So this makes no difference to me. -There was some minor itchiness around my hairline on my forehead. Nothing really bothersome though.

Didn't work for me :(
This didn't work for me. I have Asian black hair and was hoping to use this to cover my grays. I would recommend collecting a few strands of stray gray hairs and then testing the dye on those before trying on yourself. After three tries (I kept second guessing whether I did it right), I tested my strays and proved it didn't work. I left it in the jar for 24 hrs and it turned the strays from white to light gray. It's not enough to warrant all the trouble of self dying. Maybe I got a defective batch. I don't know. I did google what other people are doing (which were different than the directions in the box) and tried their methods (ie letting the dye sit for a day, etc...) but nothing. I may try this again with a different brand.

Hannah Natural hair products great for natural hair color.
This combination of natural herbs is less messy for people like me, who used to henna for several hours, then apply indigo to get black hair. Each is messy and time consuming and henna really needs to be mixed 12 hours in advance. This is at least less time consuming because you're only applying one combo product and doesn't need to be mixed in advance. It also includes some conditioning herbs along with the henna and indigo. Note: the first time you use this, it might not get to the color you want. You may need several applications. Also find myself using indigo applications in between these, since indigo just doesn't last as long on hair as henna does and you can get a reddish hue after a few weeks. Not a bad look on everybody, but not good on me. I do mix in a little oil and tea - usually chamomile - just as if I were doing a regular henna application. Learn more about mixing hair recipes at hennapages.com. I use 1 tablespoon of any oil like jojoba, coconut, or even olive oil per 100 grams of powder. I also brew and cool tea to use as the liquid in the mix. Turns out beautifully.
