Jonard Tools MRS-24 MagneTriever™ Magnetic Retrieval System Kit with Flexible Magnetic Retriever, Retrieval Hook, & Ball Chain

I purchased this last week and have used it twice since then for projects around the home — running an HDMI cable in the wall for a sound bar and installing a new AC outlet. This magnet and chain system made both job incredibly easy, but there was no insulation in walls in these two projects. I think had there been insulation it would have been difficulty for the chain to fall down the wall and therefore would have used my fish tape. How to use it to install an HDMI cable in the wall for a sound bar (for example): - Anchor the top end of the chain near the hole where the sound bar will be mounted - Drop the chain in the wall through the top hold near where the sound bar will be mounted - Through the lower hole where the DHMI cable will come out of the wall, use the magnetic wand to locate the chain and pull it towards you - Once you can see the chain, use the included hook to grab the chain and pull it though the hole in the wall - Tape your HDMI cable to the metal chain near the bottom hole in the wall and pull the metal chain back up through the top hole Pros: - Easy to use in walls without insulation - Magnets are powerful and make it easy to find the chain in the wall. - Comes with a small black carrying bag Cons: - None I’d recommend this product

The magnets are strong and it comes with 3. 2 on the bendy thing and the hook has one on the back. Lot of versatility to this tool. The chain is also pretty strong and held up on a tough wire run.

I used this tool to snake wires behind my wall where my holes were not aligned vertically. For me, the flexible magnetic head found the ball chain in one minute (after more than an hour of unsuccessfully fiddling about with only a flexible fishing tool). My wall has minimal fiberglass insulation in the wall space. The manufacturer has a helpful YouTube video showing how the tool works. Note that the demonstration uses a wall space that does not have any insulation in the wall space. I believe tool will work well if there is minimal or no insulation in the area where the magnetic head must find the ball chain. Also, the ball chain itself is decidedly "light duty" so resist the urge to pull strongly on it and only use where the chain's passageway is relatively clear (that is, avoid small diameter holes). Other reviewers have found that the chain broke easily. The tool comes with a handy telescoping pull toll with a magnet on the other end. My purchase also came with a handy bag to organize the three parts. I subtracted one star for the relatively high price and the light duty ball chain. Recommended for light duty, obstruction-free use, particularly if you are having trouble making a traditional fishing tool work.

Why didn't I discover this sooner. Years of fighting to snake wires down walls. Been an electrician for almost 15 years this little gizmo is my favorite tool for snaking. Especially if you need to run Romex to an existing box. Great quality lightweight chain, and the wet noodle is robust with a strong magnet. Just buy it you won't regret it

Yesterday I accidentally dropped a key into the deep dark abyss of my Ford Fiesta's parking brake, under my seat belt clip. It's impossible to get anything out of there by hand, the car would have to have the center console taken apart. I came across this magnet fisher and ordered immediately. It came overnight and thank goodness I fished out my key in under 2 minutes with the help of a flash light! Good Gravy what an awesome invention! Where have you been all my life? A must have if you've dropped a key in a crazy hard to reach place! It will save you time, money and patience.

I use this for my work and works really well. I prefer Jonard tools over some random Brand in terms of quality and price.

First reaction was positive, seemed sturdy and came with a little tote bag. Looked the part. However, after a single use the large magnetic head clean snapped off. Will be asking for a refund or replacement.
