I was hoping to just spot clean the bad areas but it works so well that I have to clean the whole ceiling lol. Only gripe is that small pieces flake off so wear eye protection if you are a shorty like me looking up at the ceiling. It was hard to maneuver in your hands and would barely move against the surface. Possibly because firebox walls are porous ceramic.
