I love to bake and craft. I also love putting together treat bags-- the one aspect of goody bags that I hate is having to seal the clear bags (from candies to cookies and confetti) with twist ties. Ribbon is fine, just time consuming. Also, having to seal the bags (either with glue or staples) and put toppers / labels on them is just annoying. I finally decided to invest in a heat sealer. I honestly don't know why it took me so long. I love this thing, it works like a charm and is SO easy to use. I literally just plug it in, choose a setting, test a bag, and then get on my merry sealing way. As far as investments go-- even if this isn't something that you'll use daily, weekly, or monthly-- if you craft / bake and like to make treats for friends, coworkers, or parties this is a great tool to have in your arsenal. It's a lifesaver during the holidays when I put together little bags for my daughter's daycare. So far I have used it to make treat bags with candy, personalized confetti, homemade chocolates, cookies, and have more plans for this during the upcoming holiday season.

I bought this to seal some long term storage bags. I had attempted to imply use a cloths iron (as some sites had suggested) - failing abysmally. Then I thought - for $30ish bucks - lets get the right tool for the job! Right out of the box, it worked fantastically. It seals in NO TIME...like .5 seconds. I have learned to hold it down for a couple seconds to allow the plastic bag to cool off - and it leaves a nice clean seal. This is a fantastic option for food bags, gun bags, or anything that needs long term storage. Its heafty and feels well made.

I had a less expensive bag sealer from Amazon in the past. It had a wimpy cord, that didn't fit in the socket well. Eventually the electronics failed However, this sealer seems to be much better quality. I purchased it because of the three pronged cord in the picture. It indeed has a nice three pronged cord, and a fuse. All signs someone cared to make a quality item. I noticed I have to press harder to get the device to activate versus my previous sealer. This seems to be a feature that creates a better seal. If you don't have a bag sealer, I recommend this one. It's great for all kinds of things, potato chip bags, chocolate chip bags, all kinds of snacks. It helps keep things fresh without creating more waste!

I was in desperate need of a sealer for work after I stupidly broke the good one we'd used for years. I couldn't find the exact brand/model to match what we had, but since they all looked pretty similar I assumed one was as good as the next. Lesson learned: DON'T assume one is as good as the next. It arrived with a broken piece, but that was Amazon's fault for just shipping it in its retail box with no additional padding or anything. So I had to glue that back together. Which is fine I guess. I'm surprised that was the only broken part, but that's the least of the problems. Out of the box, the thing didn't work. At all. I made sure it was plugged into a good outlet. Checked the fuse. Everything appeared as it should, but no power. Since I needed this thing to work NOW, I decided to do some investigating before dealing with the returns process and waiting for another sealer. Maybe there were other broken parts inside? I opened it up, and no - nothing inside was broken. Instead, the piece that presses against the power button inside when you want to seal something is the wrong part! It obviously doesn't belong to this machine because it's completely the wrong size and shape. At first I thought it maybe was in backwards, but there was no way to flip it around, and I realized that even if I could it would only make it worse. The part in its correct position is literally half an inch away from the power button it's supposed to push. In a sad MacGyver moment I was able to attach a small piece of something to the part so that it now pushes into that, which then pushes the power button. Which is totally ridiculous, but desperate times... At least it "works" now. The top bar part of the sealer is pretty wobbly so it's a crapshoot whether you'll be able to get it properly centered. And the little handle attached to it is so flimsy that if it didn't bend so much it would snap in an instant. AND no matter the temperature setting, it just doesn't seal very well. Sometimes it does ok. Usually it leaves anywhere from a small gap to more than half of it not sealed, and the bags I seal (which are designed to be sealed) are only about 3". It is amazing to me just how poorly made this is. If I hadn't needed it so badly, it would have been sent back without a second thought. Since I was able to get it working enough to get by (and was also able to take the handle off my old sealer to replace the horrible one on this), I begrudgingly kept it. Do yourself a favor and don't even look at this page anymore. Just close the tab or hit the back button and look at some other sealers. ANY other sealers. I doubt any of them would be as big a waste of money as this machine.

I bought this to replace a PFS-300 knock off. That unit was a piece of trash that was completely unusable. This unit is the real deal, high quality with a nice heavy duty cord. The PFS 300 knock off used very cheap lamp cord and ate heating strips every time it was used. Do yourself a favor and bypass the cheap trash units and buy this for a little extra money. It’s built like a tank and will serve you well.

The box was crushed beyond recognition. There was tons of tape on it, but parts were still missing. I sent it back to get a replacement. I will update my overall rating when I receive a replacement. UPDATE: I received the new Metronic Impulse Sealer, and it is awesome. I love it, and it works great. I changed my overall rating from 2 stars to 5 stars.

When I got it, the pressure switch was in the wrong position causing the machine to not turn on when the handle was pressed down. It was an easy fix by removing the bottom panel and adjusting the switch, but I wouldn’t have known to do that without searching for it first. The switch probably got knocked loose during shipping. After adjusting the pressure switch, the machine works perfectly.

This is the 2nd one - had to order a replacement for the first one that worked for about 3 bags. Clicks, lights up, light goes off before even heating.
