They look great with jeans and cords and the burgundy color is the new neutral so I'll get lots of good wear out of these. The rich leather is smooth, and the color deep and uniform. People make a big deal about Horween leather, and while this is not (as far as I'm aware) I think you'll still be impressed nonetheless. When I first tried them on, I felt like my feet were swimming in them. I would agree that these fit about 1/2 size large, however... I wear a size 13, but there is no 12.5 option. I also ordered a 12, but I couldn't even get my foot in them without completely unlacing each boot. So as a solution, I looked into insoles. I found Chippewa insoles at my local work gear store, and trimmed them to fit (there is no removable insole from the factory). However they were entirely too thick and the boots were painfully tight. I then went back on desertcart and ordered a bunch of different insoles, eventually settling on a pair of ecco's. Now I have a snug, much more comfortable fit that should conform to my foot nicely. While I wish for speed hooks up top, I'm willing to overlook the omission as the waxed flat laces look great and stay tied. The tongue is stitched to the quarters @ the 4th eyelet, so there is ample room to slip on and off while still keeping wind and water out. The big plus for me is the full vibram rubber sole, which allows you to go almost anywhere, even in wet conditions, making these boots very practical. Overall, very happy with this purchase. Even at full MSRP these boots are a great value, but if you manage to find a better price you have to pull the trigger. This is a wardrobe staple. The compliments are free. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fantastic book that always gets compliments *by T***H on October 18, 2018* First things first: the SIZING . I'm typically a 10.5 on the large size, so i was nervous about all the advice to half-size down (especially considering my feet tend to be a bit wide for a D, but E's are too roomy) There was also some people who confused the matter further by saying get your normal size and purchase an insole - i eventually bit the bullet and got a size 10. This was the right move. SIZING Get a half size down from your normal. When i first got the boot, they were snug across the forefoot, but not painful. I could wiggle all my toes and my heel had plenty of room (in fact, in thin socks, the heel would slip). Buying my normal size would have been way too large. They will feel snug (not tight) and rigid out of the box, try some different sock thicknesses, and as long as you can wiggle your toes freely and you aren't in intense pain, they will break themselves in. BREAKING IN Your mileage may vary, but by the end of the first 6-8 hour day they were mostly broken in. The snugness i felt out of the box was starting to relax and the shoes were comfortable. 3 days of average wear later, the sole had softened and conformed to my foot, and the snugness had disappeared, and they were well on their being everyday-wear comfortable. LOOK You cant beat the look of these boots with almost anything. I always get compliments on these shoes. If you take care of them, they age wonderfully, and never look beat up or ragged. Get yourself some leather oil or cream (i prefer Obenaufs) and clean em now and then and these boots will always get noticed. NOTES For people in colder areas, get yourself some warm socks for these boots. I don't wear them through the winter, but come the chillier days of New England fall, my feet need the extra warmth. The laces they give you look awesome, but a backup pair wouldn't hurt, as the eyelets take their toll on the waxed laces.
