Works great, but may not fix your problem.
I had an old XBox 360 Arcade that had been through a lightning storm and had lost it's HDMI and network ports. I was resisting buying a new XBox and trying to save money so I ordered one of these adapters to try to get my XBox Live back. I plugged it into the USB port and it recognized it immediately and then took me through setting up my connection. It worked great for about 30 seconds until it detected that something had plugged into the network port (which I hadn't). Then it switched back to wifi, then back to ethernet, and so on. So clearly the network port was not done being angry. Supposedly there is a way to rig a paper clip into your network port so it doesn't do this (check YouTube) but I didn't have the patience. Other than that, there's no fix I'm aware of for the operating system to make it stop doing this. Take my advice: just wait until an XBox goes on sale and buy a new one with built in Wifi. You'll be much happier in the long run and won't have to waste time like I did.

Very little difference compared to a direct connect depending on where it is.
I was very worried when I decided to move my xbox because I said oh man the wifi will kill my speed on games and downloads. Nope. It is nearly identical to a point that I don't even really notice if there is a difference. Gaming online is also nearly flawless. I have had zero issues with this item and for $50 or whatever it is now it is worth it. The setup is easy as can be. If you can't set this up then you fail as a human. You literally just need to select it. I will say that sometimes it is a little slow connecting initially to xbox live or I need to remind it to connect but normally that is quick and painless and to have no wire hanging from the ceiling is worth it to me.

Great to use Xbox 360 slim as a wireless Windows Media Center extender (expensive but much better than the built-in adapter)
The Xbox 360 slim makes for a great Windows Media Center extender... except it comes with a very low-end built-in wireless adapter that is not suitable for streaming HD content (only one antenna, in the 2.4 GHz band which is typically restricted to 20 MHz-wide channels). This external adapter is much better as it has two antennas and works in the 5 GHz band (while remaining compatible with the 2.4 GHz band). In any event the end result is that HD streaming from a Windows Media Center PC works perfectly with this adapter (when paired with a good router). Cons include the stiff price, and the fact that the slim does not have the holes to clamp this adapter to, so you need to keep it next to the Xbox (on its little feet) rather than clamped into it.

Perfect
i debated for a very long time on rather to purchase this one, or a cheaper non-micorsoft version. I end up deciding on this one due to the positive reviews, and i am very glad that i did. PROS: -arrived perfectly. the box was in perfect condition. the actual adapter was too. -incredibly easy to use. just hook it onto the back, and the xbox takes over. all you have to do is enter your wifi password. that is it. -it catches the signal. my wifi is pretty far away from my xbox. i was very worried i wouldn't get a good signal. but i get full strenth. -it isn't noticable. it hooks onto the back of the xbox, so it isn't distracting or ugly. CONS: -the price. it is steep price for what it is, but i purchased it for the peace of mind knowing that IT WILL WORK. that made it worth it. conclusion? yes. i would buy this again. it works beautifully.

This has been a great buy for our family
This has been a great buy for our family. We have our router hooked up in our main living room and our son's xbox is inside his room which is more than 75 feet away from the router. We had 100 ft. ethernet cord, but what a trip hazard that was. Now we are wire free from the trip hazard and my son enjoys playing his xbox without the wire. It's simple to use, just plug and play (with some setting on your xbox). No battery or plug require to operate this wifi adapter. Great product.

Works Great, By Why's It Requires At All?
This adapter does exactly what it promises. Dual-channel, great speed, the works; with this attached, my Xbox 360 is one of my fastest, most reliable WiFi N devices. It's way overpriced, but I guess that's the Xbox Tax. What burns me is that I have to buy this at all when I own an Xbox 360 Slim, which ostensibly ALREADY has WiFi N in it. But Microsoft skimped on the WiFi N that's built into the Xboxes; it's single-antenna-only and 2.4-GHz-only, so it's barely better than WiFi G. If you want any of the real benefits of WiFi N, you have to shell out for this overpriced adapter just like with the other Xbox 360 models. Which, again, works great, but boo on Microsoft for advertising WiFi N as a feature of the Slim and then barely delivering.
