The Pony Scouts are having a sleepover at Jillโs house! They get to tend to the ponies day and night. But when one of the girls forgets to latch a stall, itโs the Scouts to the rescue! The Pony Scouts series is full of all the rich details young horse lovers devour, from pony-centric plots to a "Pony Pointers" vocabulary page at the end of each book. Go camping with the Pony Scouts! Author Catherine Hapka is a lifelong horse lover. She rides several times per week and keeps three horses on her small farm in Pennsylvania. If you're looking for horse books for girls 4-8, don't miss the Pony Scouts books. Pony Scouts: Runaway Ponies! is a Level Two I Can Read book, geared for kids who read on their own but still need a little help. Whether shared at home or in a classroom, the engaging stories, longer sentences, and language play of Level Two books are proven to help kids take their next steps toward reading success. Review: Great Horse Story - Granddaughter enjoyed reading this book. Review: Perfect for a horse crazy little girl! - I have a horse crazy daughter who just adores this series of books. She just turned 6 and is in Kindergarten. I am a middle school teacher turned stay at home mom, and I bought these books to read with her. While these are a bit difficult for her reading level just yet, she is trying to read them on her own and I suspect by the end of Kindergarten, she'll be reading them with guidance. In regards to reading level, I personally would recommend these books for an advanced reading Kindergartener- 2nd grade. However, children 3 1/2 and older would enjoy listening to them. The illustrations are adorable and remind me of the vintage Golden Books and the story lines are heartwarming but easy for young students to follow. Overall, the Pony Scouts books are great for a horse crazy little girl (or boy)! I bought all of them!

Perfect bedtime stories
My daughter, who is horse-obsessed, loves these Pony Scout stories. They're perfect for her age (3, turning 4) but I would also recommend them for slightly older readers (5-7) who are able to read independently and will enjoy learning some 'pony pointers'. My only (small) complaint is the pony pointers are a bit repetitive... but you'd only notice if you purchased the entire series.

Teaches a lesson about paying attention and following instruccions
My 6 year old got the whole series of six books for christmas and loves it! This one teaches the kids the important of listening and following directions. I like that each of the books in this series have a Pony Pointer Dictionary with a couple of the most horse vocabulary. A great idea, especially for city kids like mine.

Used or New?
Arrived all torn up on the spine of the book. It was my understanding that I had ordered a new book but it looked used.
