This book teaches you about all the important ingredients we eat, he gives you the science and helps you to understand food and your body chemistry better. Then he teaches you how coconut oil and coconut products will help to make you a healthier person and helps you change your eating habits. It's not the diet that will help you loose the weight and feel better, it's the removal of sugars, reduction of gluten and carbs that will. If you can gain the knowledge of how sugar, oils, cholesterol and carbohydrates affect your physical and mental health, you can change your way of eating quite easily. I totally recommed this book to anyone. I don't have diabetes or heart disease, but I do have an autoimmune disease and Hashimotos; I truly believe that this change will cure me. I know it will take time and I'm going to give it my best effort.

Oh my gosh! an awesome book! This will explain everything to you, some time in almost too much detail. Whenever I go on a diet I read everything I can about it...it's like a cheering squad for me I get so excited to get started. This is one of those great books that will inspire you to go on the diet. Excellent advice, great reading!
I love this Author, Dr. Bruce Fife. He is very interesting and I like how he backs his science up by providing his resources. I have 4 of his books now. This book is especially helpful to me. Awesome information and diet plan
Very detailed (more than I personally want) about the science of a low carb high fat diet. A lot of people still think this is dangerous, so I think the science is important to include. It is NOT a pamphlet by any means. There are sample meals, and it is not hard to determine how many carbs you are getting in different foods (a list of popular foods is in the back, which is helpful; and it also names a couple of websites to get more detailed info). But it's true that it is not a "here are your menus for the rest of your life" book. It's really not hard to figure out what you can eat lots of and to figure out moderation on some other foods. I've done Atkins before, and there was a lot of info in this book that I did not know. Like I said, I skimmed over the deep science, but I'm glad it was there. Gives total credence to the ketogenic eating plan (more than just a "diet," but that's what sells books). Includes some recipes for main dishes and also some recipes for "sweets," which are important not to forego if that's what you like. This is an excellent book, as many others have said, if you want to go low carb. I totally believe that too many carbs are what makes us fat!

It's good. I got a lot of good information out of the book and I would recommend it. However, I feel all diet books should be taken with a grain of salt - they get an almost religious feel in how zealous they are in regards to what you should or shouldn't eat or do. I don't think everything in here is 100% true and everyone's body is different. Use your intuition and listen to your body. I do feel this is one of the better diet books I've read and I am keto - but I tweek the diet to fit my body's needs as if I followed their protocol, it wouldn't work as well for me. Give it a try. And yes I am losing weight :) I was a 4, I'm now a 2, and I'm shooting for a 0. As many of you know, it's more difficult to lose, the closer you are to your goal weight. So I am impressed. I feel there is good info in here. Even things like getting sunshine - that is very important to weight loss and it's typically overlooked. I do feel I should mention that Keto does have side effects, and some aren't pleasant. I don't know if Keto is good long-term, my intuition tells me no, at least not for me. Maybe I will cycle, maybe I will just tweek the foods so I can stay keto but in a way that feels better to my body. Not sure - time will tell. I may come back and update this review later if things change or more info comes to light. All in all - I would recommend this. Also the Keto reddit is awesome for information, help and inspiration!!!

Life-Changer
This book is a life-changer. I'm a part-time holistic health coach, and I have 15 or more books and numerous references about eating low carb and living in nutritional ketosis. This book is, by far, the best I've ever read, chock-full of explanations, references, and guidelines that are easy to understand and implement. Post-menopause, I've been carrying around an extra 15 pounds for about a year. I've been following this plan and I have lost 5 pounds in the first 2 weeks. This is a miracle. Honestly, the weight loss is secondary to how amazing I feel. I've been eating low carb most of the time since 2009 (which healed disabling gut problems) but I now realize I wasn't eating enough fat and I was eating too much protein. This book has given me the information I need to be 100%. I'm hypothyroid and take Armour daily. I have high hopes of further reducing my medication. I've already reduced it from 2 grains to 1.5 grains. I'm warm for the first time in years, which is a good thing, and my usually dry and flaky skin is soft and smooth from consuming coconut oil. Thank you, Dr. Fife, for sharing your research.

I've read lots of reviews and the diet seems to be a good one based on scientific evidence of the benefits of medium chain fatty acids. Even helped a friend of mine to lose weight, gain energy, etc. It just doesn't work for me. I'm menopausal so perhaps that is the reason??

My wonderful experience with coconut oil diet --great loss IF you follow it exactly!
Followed the diet perfectly, lost 25 pounds in 25-30 days. Kept it off easily--half a sandwich fills me up during first year afterward. Two years later, I got a little rounding on the belly, went on diet for 2 weeks and lost inches. I had gotten inactive and ate more sugary foods so I gained a few pounds, but I am 5 pounds less than when I ended the diet. My doc says coconut oil helps your body deal with sugar. But you must wait months between dieting with coconut oil. You will lose just so much--then it is bad to continue the diet. It will stop working and it would be unhealthy to keep eating such a limited diet. Stop and do it again in a year. You can use other types of diets AFTER you are stabilized and eating normally for 9-12 months. Only problem was with so little food being eaten I felt constipated and had to take laxatives every week to keep dry bowels from stopping the system up. The carbs the diet allows must be fibrous. I am sorry that didn't use them that way so I had to deal with laxatives. This probably just affects people like me who have dealt with the problem since birth. Now, between diets, I eat coconut candies I make--1 pack or 'dose" of sweetner (NOTtoxic splenda) 1 cup coconut oil, few tablespoons (or more) of real peanut butter (vegetable oil in PB would undo all the good effects of coconut oil) and a tablespoon or so of cocoa, with a dash of salt and vanilla. These have so little carbs, but they fill you up between meals. This sweetened coconut oil should not be used during diet stage, just as no sweets/artificial sweetner should be used. You break the sweets addiction with this diet. You will learn to love water again! TIP! Don't use the expensive coconut oil if it seems hard to swallow 3 tablespoons a day. It has more substance to it. The cheaper oil that Tropical traditions sells -expeller produced--seems to have the same values but it melts like water when you are swallowing it, goes right down. It doesn't seem like you are eating much at all. With this diet you will learn to also love coconut oil since you use so much! After the diet, cook with coconut oil--use the cheap stuff for frying, putting on popcorn, stir frying, baking when only a tablespoon or so is needed. For pie crusts, etc., check the recipes in the book--it can't be used in larger amounts like butter or Crisco. Coconut oil is so good for you--it is amazing.

I LOVE Dr Fife's books and material
Known as DR COCONUT by followers of his material, me being one, his book THE COCONUT OIL MIRACLE changed my like forever: FACT. It was the catalyst of a philosophical shift that propelled me to change fields of working focus. I used his book to loose 50#. Not that HE advocated it; he didn't. I just 'got' what was possible and did it. I bow to him and his work. That said: this book (for me) gets you 90% where you need to go. I say: read it. AND read COCONUT OIL MIRACLE first. Now: about that other 10%: Jimmy Moore is releasing a new book in August called Keto Clarity. It contains the additional 10%. I have read this Dr Fife book and like it VERY much. Read it. THEN: take the next step and pre-order Jimmy's book. You'll be ready for that one with this really good foundation. KETOGENIC living will SHOCK & AMAZE you. It certainly did me!! Don't be fooled though: This puppy takes REAL commitment to tackle, get on, stay on and be willing to take months to be crazy successful!! GEAR UP!! Good news:: The initial stage of becoming a fat-burner can take as little as 3wks - month. Be strict & faithful -AND~ Be strong!! THIS is the biggest secret of our time~ Congrats for grabbing the tail of this tiger!!

Life changing
Life changing information. I struggle with weight and have for years. For me this was the only thing that worked in the last few years, this eating plan got my thyroid going again and I feel so much better.Great book.
