Buy one size down
I've been having lower back pain for a little over a year. A problem with my L5 vertebrae was causing soreness in my hip. Sometimes both sides. These shorts really helped after a couple of nights. I'm still uncomfortable at my spine but the muscle soreness in the hips is gone. I typically wear L and first bought these in large but they were too big to have significant compression. I downsized to a medium and they fit just try to give me the amount of compression I need.

Good compression shorts
Fit nicely and give a good amount of upper leg compression. Not as snug as a compression wrap but gives you a little more mobility.

Excellent compression for leg training!
The material is amazing. Definitely has solid compression on upper legs and hips. However for those of us with bigger glutes the back slides down some when you do any hip hinging (deadlifts/squats/lunges)Bought an XL.My height is 6โ0 with measurements of waist @ belly button is 41โ, hips across largest part of glutes is 43.5โ and upper legs @ quads and hamstrings are 27.5โ.Definitely a keeper, doesnโt show butt crack but it does slide down. The only way I can solve this is by pulling the legs further up my thighs, about another 2โ and the waist band landing about 2-3โ below my belly button, where the waist band of a pair of dress pants would normally be.However, doing this rides up the crotch, so it will get some getting used to during leg training.I hope they make other colors down the road like red and blue. Iโll definitely buy them. And thereโs a possibility I may buy another pair in the near future, so long as these hold together through rigorous training and washes.

Best compression shorts ever!
Iโm not an athlete, Iโm a disabled Veteran. I suffer from chronic pain in my low back, buttocks, both hips and both hamstrings. I have tried several brands of compression shorts and I keep coming back to McDavid. If you need real compression, you need these shorts. All other brands are a joke. My only wish is that they had a little more tightness in the lower buttocks. But other than that, these are my go-to shorts for virtually any activity

Thearapeutic use
From my husband:After going through two hip surgeries a couple a months apart, the PT started using kinesiology tape on the hip flexor area. The problem with the tape is the spray was causing a rash so we stopped. I started researching compression shorts and came across these. While one hip flexor is worse than the other, I wanted something to mimic the tape for both that could be worn daily if desired and these fit the bill.1. These work just as good if not better than tape for me;2. The quads being tight from recovery has been lessened with these shorts, but it will take more than just wearing them3. Others have reported you won't want to wear underwear under them because it will be uncomfortable; if you wear regular cotton briefs or certainly boxers I would say you more than likely won't be, but if you wear Fruit of the Loom breathable underwear, I found it to be quite comfortable and can extend the periods between washing the compression shorts.4. Once I get back to riding my bicycle, these will definitely be the first to go on.5. Yes I find these worth the money.

Good, Comfortable Compression for Medical or Athletic Use
I had never heard of the McDavid brand in my life, but have been really impressed with these. I'm a guy and am an avid runner and gymrat with loads of experience in using compression garments both for recovery and for coldweather running. I love these McDavids for several reasons.First off, I'm using these for a medical purpose after minor hip surgery complications. My ortho surgeon wanted me in compression shorts to prevent additional swelling around my incisions. The McDavids actually give you enough squeeze for that purpose, yet at the same time are very comfortable. I'm wearing them 24/7 both to bed and under my work clothes with no issues. With other compression stuff (...looking at you, 2XU) the waist is low-rise, and the meager space allocated for your junk - makes for an uncomfortable fit. These strike a great balance in compression and yet are cut pretty comfortably for guys. Also, the rise is higher up and is far more comfortable in my opinion. They're super thick and durable feeling, and in fact most of the panels are double-fabric. The crotch portion is single ply, which I actually think is brilliant b/c of comfort reasons above, not to mention ventilation. I even like the colors, where they tipped the black ones with red highlights and the white ones with gray highlights. The other key things that should be obvious: (1) most people don't wear them tight enough to get much benefit and (2) the compression you get will depend greatly on what size you order. I'm 6'2", 33 waist, muscular build and the mediums fit well without sacrificing comfort. If I were desperate for very high compression, I could move down to the small, but they'd be far less comfortable. All I'm saying is don't be nonsensical and whine about lack of compression when you order a 2XL for your 28" waist.Overall a great product, and these were so good I ordered a second pair. Oh and be aware, you may see WILD swings in price between the 2 colors and between sizes. My white mediums were almost twice the price of my black mediums. Can't wait to use these in the gym and not just on crutches.

Good for everyday but not the best
Loved the fit and feel, these are great if you have to wear some support thru out the day be it work or play. That being said I expected more support out of these as I use them to play sports. They work well but if you want some heavy duty support I suggest UnderArmour instead. They are tighter fitting and WAAAAYYYY stiffer !

Look great, feel great, weak stitching...
I walk about 30km a day so this should be a consideration when reading this.I have tried a few brands of compression shorts and so far these are my favourite so why only 3 stars? The disappointing bit about them is the stitching. It looks great and like they should be able to hold Frankenstein together but despite three separate stitched lines, the thread is weak. So when you put them on for first time or after a wash you have to be really careful else it sounds like tiny little cables snapping all over. You can this in the photo. Also when wearing these wear shorts over the top if running of treadmill walking else you will quickly wear through the material in crutch area as the stitching is raised due to stitching thin smooth material with three lots of thread plus material overlap = a small amount of stitching on stitching rubbing and eventual failure. The material itself is brilliant. Shame about the stitching and I really hope this design flaw is fixed in a newer version.
