I have owned and used many brands of hard plastic cases. The Nanuk is easily as good as the best, and superior in many ways to most. I purchased this case as a camera case. I chose it for the color choice (bright yellow), accessories, latch design and upgrade capability. I'm trusting it to safeguard thousands of dollars of cameras and lenses. The padded lens insert is well made, very similar to Lowe camera backpacks (can be lifted out easily) and is easily customizable. I chose the egg crate foam in the lid of this case to maximize internal space as it is rather shallow. My Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens "fit" but closing the lid was putting too much pressure on the plastic lens hood for my comfort. I thought about cutting a small section of the foam out of the lid, but decided to order a deeper and larger case, a 950. This case will comfortable carry; a DSLR or mirrorless camera with battery pack, a 300mm f2.8, a 70-200mm F2.8, a mini wide zoom, 2@ 2x and one 1.4x teleconverters for the 70-200 and 300mm lenses, a Hoodman and some other small accessories. I'm using this case as a buddy case for my Nanuk 950 which carries a pair of bodies with battery grips, the 800mm lens, a 150-600mm or 180-600mm, a 28-300mm, a 14-24mm, a flash, another pair of Z teleconverters, and lots of support gear in the lid organizer. The 935 will accept my 150-600mm or 180-600mm. I own both F and Z mount cameras and lenses. I upgraded this case in two ways, changing the PowerClaw latches for the TSA lockable version and adding the Nanuk Heavy-Duty wheels. Those larger wheels pop off and maintain the carryon capability of the case. In case you are wondering why all this gear, especially the teleconverters, I photograph wildlife and airshows. Bonus material: The new Nikon Z mirrorless cameras and lenses have full autofocus and VR with a 1.4x or 2x teleconverter. My results are stunning, but I've been using teleconverters for over 20 years. Try it!

Due to extensive travel, especially abroad, I'd been looking for something to carry my professional camera gear in for some time. After looking at other options--Manfrotto, Pelican, Lowepro, ThinkTank, et al.--and reading the reviews for all of them, I chose the Nanuk 935 due to its reputation. I did consider its weight, as that is an issue: this case is not light. However, in terms of 'build,' the 935 is solid. Very solid. I'm not sure that I'd ship my gear in it when traveling--instead of carrying it on board with me--but that's more a statement on baggage handling than on the case itself. The weight is part of its build: I expect something of this nature to be somewhat heavy. In the end, price was *not* the primary factor as protecting over $7.5K in camera gear is the objective, not going cheap. I also tend to look at a product's "weak spots" when considering a purchase of this nature. In an item like this, that would be the hinges and the latch points. Nanuk has thought this one out and taken care of them, especially the "powerclaw" latches are well conceived and made. The hinges are also robust. The other items I consider are the retractable pull handle and wheels. Once again, they are well made. I have zero concerns about the reliability and durability of any of them. The only item lacking, given that this is designed for travel, are built-in TSA combination locks. However, for less than $10 one can purchase them separately and use the large, dual hasps to lock down the cases' items. The interior part of the case can be purchased with different configurations. I went with the cubed foam and have configured it in the way in which my gear fits best. In hindsight, I wish that I would have gone with the cubed foam with lid organizer, as it would give me valuable space to store other items--camera batteries, filters, etc.--that currently occupy valuable space. However, that is not a defect but a lack of vision on my part. Finally, the product's "look." Unlike some of its competitors, the Nanuk 935 *looks* like a carry-on, not a crate with wheels with expensive contents. This is important as I don't want to *look* like I'm carrying high-value contents in a carry-on. The aesthetic in this case makes it virtually look like a standard carry-on. I chose black to be as simple as possible, but those who feel the need to choose a bolder color can choose another of the six colors. In sum, I feel that my gear travels safe and sound in the Nanuk 935. It was the right choice for me.

Excellent gear case. Padding is secure and doesn’t shift. Fits everything i need like large lenses like my 150–600mm plus accessories with ease. The latches are easy to operate but wont open if caught on something. Divider system lifts out as one piece if you want to use the case for something else or a different divider system. Handles, wheels, and latches feel sturdier than Pelican brand. Built to carry serious weight and store pretty much anything you need.

Amazing case. Strong and looks and feels durable. Very good quality wheels. The handle has two level height adjustment. I love it and it is not for me.

Great product quality after three months use, fits my Mavic pro and my Nikon Z7 II with all accessories, just little scratch from my use so make sure you understand it is on two wheels when you hall it

First, I like Nanuks a lot better than I ever liked Pelican cases; Nanuk cases seem more finished, less unnecessary complicated design-wise, and less ugly. They are also cheaper, and I like to support Canada because their having economic stability means they are less likely to try to attack (you laugh, but in my hometown, we actually have a US-Canada peace monument). This is a tough, attractive, and smooth case. It's a nice touch that the lid has a detent to keep it open. If you've ever had a Pelican case lid rap you on the knuckles, well, ouch. That said, the 1535 is somewhat puzzling as a locking case - because if you break a small piece of plastic off each corner near the hinges, you can pull the hinge pins (using the built-in grip... on the pin). I'm sure there is some use case for this, like setting up arctic scientific bases in the frozen wastes of Windsor, Ontario (j/k!), but for most people, a straight pin with no "handle" would seem like a better idea. I guess you could solve this by snipping off the knurled handle. What I don't like a lot about plastic equipment cases is that the stock options are pretty sub-par. The Nanuk padded divider set has a very thin layer of padding on its "bottom" (what faces the outside of the case), and there is a finite number of sizes of rectangular objects that can be accommodated. This problem goes way beyond Nanuk and Pelican. On the 1535, you also lose the two corners with the wheels and little spot near the retracted handle. Since I am using this as a case for camera lenses, I would comment that the divider: - Is about ok for old-school SLR, mirrorless, or medium-format detachable lenses 5" long or shorter (unless you turn them sideways) - Is difficult for smaller lenses, like for rangefinder cameras, because the short dividers are still a bit longer than the diameter of an average RF lens - Is an ok but not great fit for camera bodies The alternative for plastic cases, cubed foam, like Communism, seems like a great idea until you try to implement it. The foam is by nature weakened so you can make your own openings, and this inevitably leads to its destruction. It also outgasses and absorbs oil. Many ways to win here! Perhaps the most irritating thing about it is that the replacement cost is insanely high, as if the open-celled polyurethane foam matrix contains large amounts of earth's most previous substance, to wit, inkjet ink. The reality is that the foam is probably insanely cheap to make, moderately expensive to ship due to its volume, and massively profitable. Trekpak seems to have solved this partially, but for any critical application, you will want to go to your local foam outlet and have a closed cell foam or neoprene block custom-cut for your stuffs. Perhaps someone could let us all know why Nanuk's lid organizers cost a huge percentage of the cost of the cases they go in? The best value proposition on the 1535 seems to be getting padded dividers when on sale; you can always do foam later, but the dividers are very expensive to buy separately. Anyway, I would recommend this if you are looking for a "carry on" factor case, but just be careful in considering how you will cushion the items inside.

I needed a case for some delicate objects and started looking at Pelican's offerings. I already have a pelican rifle case and a boom box shaped Pelican storm case that im very pleased with. As I was browsing I kept seeing ads for Nanuk and eventually I took a deeper look at one. First thing that impressed me was the price that seems to be about 1/3 cheaper than similar Pelicans. Then I saw the reviews and I decided to get this 935 with padded dividers. I am so glad I did because this thing is unnecessarily nice. They didn't need to make it this nice but they did. The handles are tough, comfortable, and smoothly retract. The latches are tough, they latch very tight, and they are easy to use. The padded dividers are perfect blend of squishy and rigid. You can just tell that they put a lot of thought and effort into every detail of this case. Now I just have to look around my house until I can find something else that needs a Nanuk case to give me an excuse to buy another.

I give this case 5+ stars! I use this case for my photography cameras and telephoto lenses. I needed a case that would protect my very expensive equipment. I travel a lot and it is the size of a carry on, so I can keep it with me on a plane. It’s ease to pull and rolls nicely. Its latches are a double lock, so it can’t pop open and it has two spots for locks. Hinges are also heavy duty. The inside has removable inserts and I am able to create a spot for each piece. I carry two camera body’s and four lenses and hoods. Two of them are telephoto lens, and they take up a lots of space. I can also fit in few smaller items like battery packs and chargers and a one tripod. This case protected my equipment from a tumble down escalator. From the top of the escalator it went end over end to the bottom. I was able to pull out my equipment and use it that very evening at a sporting event. My only complaint, is it really heavy to pick up and put in my trunk of my car. But I am confident it’s its ability to protect my equipment!

Excelente calidad de materiales. Se sienten muy fuertes los sellos, las molduras y las ruedas. Muy buenos acabados. Exactamente lo que estaba buscando. Obviamente no son ligeras. Ya con todo el equipo fotográfico adentro pesa más que una Mochila.

I am reviewing the Nanuk 935 case. I am happy with it and it seems robust. I also think it's rather stylish. I got the padded dividers for photo gear. I love the flexibility of movable dividers over foam cut outs. The gear I take on a shoot always varies. I also use this case without the insert for general travel purposes. I actually bought another one for this purpose. The extendable handle seems like it could potentially be a weak point over other cases that have one solid piece of plastic rather than the two poles of the Nanuk but so far no problems and its release mechanism is much better than the solid plastic type releases, as you can operate it with your thumb using one hand. The two height positions could also be an advantage for some people. The latches are better than other brands, in that they need a double action to release them lowering the chance of accidental opening. I guess the downside of that is if you're are opening and closing it a lot, it could be mildly annoying and slower to access. If you want to lock it you will need padlocks with a long shank or cable. As for carry on: it fits the dimensions of most carriers and I have used it as such but just bear in mind the case weighs 5.2kg and carry on allowance depending on your carrier and class of travel can be 7kg. So obviously your case to contents ratio is not going to be good if you want to stick to the rules or think your bag will be weighed! Do your own research on this aspect!

I received the item, but even though it was shown and stated that a lid organizer was included, it was not. This feels misleading, and I’m quite disappointed with the purchase. Otherwise, the case itself seems fine.

This is a truly excellent product, mine is now 2 years old, has had heavy usage, and is simply the best but for protecting expensive camera gear. VERY highly recommended!
