Wanted a scoop to make uniform size meatballs to cook consistently. Considered other scoop options, but this tool has the advantage. I scooped the mix and when it’s closed, excess mix comes out a hole placed at top and bottom. It was easy to remove excess from outside. Left with a perfect meatball. Not commercial grade, but if it’s not overpacked or squeezed hard, it should last. Bonus getting 2 sizes.

Easy use, easy to clean! Great for portioning when baking. I would buy this again.

I gave it a 4 star because both sides of the ball do not line up evenly when you close them. I have used them a few times now and I think at first they did line up properly. Even so, they still work really well for creating spheres, so I do still recommend this product. I bought them for making the same size cake pops quickly and easily. They work nicely for that. I have now given them to my son to use with his playdough for a fun fine motor activity. He calls them his "playdough scissors". I haven't let him use scissors yet, but I feel like these will work his hand muscles the same way scissors do and it will make teaching him how to use scissors easier when I feel like he is ready to use them. We may even use these to make snowballs as a fun outdoor activity this year. I feel like these can be a great tool for various things! If I need more, I would buy these again.

The tongs themselves have no issues, but the meat mixture sticks to the inside of the ball, making the meatballs imperfect in shape.

Look, these are for *simplifying* the process of making meatballs - it is not going to pop out a "perfect" meatball for you. It will have a bit of a seam around the middle. It will be most of the way there. But a brief hand roll will actually give you the "perfect" meatball. What this does is make them *all the same size* right off the bat with very little hand rolling needed, just a quick finishing roll. No eyeballing or weighing out each one for constancy. As someone with severe inflammatory arthritis, it is a gamechanger for me! I love making meatballs, but all the hand work can be difficult or even simply not doable at times. But with this product I made a batch in something like a quarter of the amount of time, if not less, with so much less hand rolling. And so much easier on my wrists and finger joints! But do follow the instructions and oil the surfaces between every one. Either with a spray oil or a bowl of oil to dip them into. The end product will pop right out and be much smoother, meaning less finishing rolling.

I bought these to use specifically for drop dumplins (which I make many times a year) & buckeyes (which I make a lot of at Christmas). I tried using when I first got them for dumplins and they didn't do what I was needing them to. Well, now it's Christmas time & buckeye making started... they do not work for that either. I tried spraying them and without spray (both for dumplins & buckeyes). They failed both ways. This was just a waste of money for me. They're also pretty flimsy when holding and "scooping" - I feel like these wouldn't hold up for a lot of uses.

Perfect sizes for meatballs or cake pops!! Strong grip and I would recommend!!
