Can anyone tell me how tall the bottom central section is? I will be using a shelf stereo system for sound and want to know if the main unit will fit.

Bottom shelf is 11 3/8" high while middle shelf is 7 13/16" high. Both openings (between metal posts) are 17 3/4" wide by 11 1/2" deep. Hope this helps making your decision.
