Review: The Empress' New Clothes - Had I stumbled on this book, I probably would have not bought it, because the title seems confusing to me. However, I saw Dr. Gress interviewed on "Life On the Rock" on EWTN, which made me want to read this book. That wasn't the end of my misgivings, however, as I have heard other lively and interesting authors interviewed, and upon receiving their books, found the writing style nothing like the live author, or worse, that someone who can convey ideas and tell their story in a clear, accessible engaging style in person has written a top-shelf tome for the initiated, not a book for beginners at all. So it was with trepidation that I cracked the cover of this book when it arrived today from desertcart. I need not have worried, since I have not put it down since, and read more than two thirds of the 200 pages in one sitting. The style is very accessible, the writing graceful and flowing, the points thoughtful and well-articulated, and underscored by relevant footnotes. Even when I am familiar with an incident or news item being discussed, Dr. Gress reveals details I did not know or unfolds it in a larger historical context. There are places where she is writing as a woman to other women, but most of her remarks are also addressed to men, who, I think, can also read this book with profit. For one thing, this brief book is a joy to read, and a welcome change from the daily diet of poorly-written, badly edited, strident and questionably substantiated news. Review: Put on your battle gear and fight, fight, fight. - The best review I have read came from Mallory Millett, Writer, Speaker, Director David Horowitz Freedom Center, Sister of feminist-icon Kate Millett: "I am bowled over by Carrie Gressโ latest book. Her discovery and definition of the Anti-Mary is an answer to the current world-wide dismay over โwhat on earth has happened to women?โ" I am a 55 year old man, born the year The Feminine Mystic was written, a month after JKF was assassinated. We grew up in the church and out of nowhere our family was caught up in the frenzy caused by the turbulent 1960's and 1970's. No fault divorce devastated our family. A perfectly happy and content family exploded after my parents divorce. We stopped going to church and I did not pick up my faith again util 30 years later. 12/10 Get it for every lady in your life
Incredible. I received the book and I read the whole thing in one sitting. Carrie has an amazing writing voice that, while clearly well researched and built on fact, reads better than most novels Iโve picked up. I cried, I laughed, I was shocked and horrified, but mostly empowered. I am not Catholic, I was raised Protestant in the episcopal church, and recently, in the last month, decided my family needs the Catholic Church as their home. This book not only confirms all the things Iโve always felt as woman and was told were wrong, but gave me an extra boost in confidence that I am doing what is right by my family. I would recommend this book to Catholics and Protestants, even non Christians alike, every woman should read this. It is important for every woman to read this, to learn or just to be reminded how awesome and powerful we are, just for being.

Read this!
Next to my armchair is a stack of books waiting to be read, some started and then put aside. This book is not one of them. I LOVE this book. I finished it tonight, a perfect book for International Womenโs Day, because Mary is THE perfect woman, whom we should strive to be close to and whom both women and men should aspire to be like. Our parish is working on a 33 day consecration to Jesus through Mary, so this book is timely, as it is for Lent, too. Almost 25 years ago, Mary began drawing me toward her Son, and into the Catholic Church, though so subtly, as is her way, that I did not see it at the time. But, this book has moved me closer to her than I have ever been, especially in one part after which I had to stop reading because it brought me to tears when I recognized the depth of her love for us, her children. It came from a very unexpected quoted source, a most unlikely one, a being of the Spirit world, an โeye witnessโ at the crucifixion to the depth of love and suffering that Mary, Mother of God, experienced at the foot of the cross. I truly believe that the only way out of our present darkness, and the salvation of the world, is to Jesus through His Blessed Mother, Mary. Read this. You will be glad you did.

"Be an outlaw! Be a damned outlaw!" Carrie Gress has pulled together what has been facing us for a while now with the demonic howls at the Brett Cavanagh hearing with their clamour to kill babies without any regard for life or person. These women have been plainly intent on something that goes way beyond rights or any standard of common decency for a years now. She examines their roots and concludes the deliberate hatred of God and Christianity lies behind their efforts. Some really good quotes to back up the argument that a woman' right to choose virginity and to aspire to be like the Mary Mother of God will lead half the planet back to being cooperative and actually liked by the other half. It might hurt a few pockets- sex sells. Genesis 3:16 "I will multiply thy sorrows, and thy conceptions: in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children, and thou shalt be under thy husband's power, and he shall have dominion over thee."

A look at the way the roles of women have changed over the years, and not always for the best. A good reminder to Catholic women that Our Lady is the ultimate example of selfless love, and motherhood, and getting back to her example is what the world needs right now, as we are in spiritual crisis.

This book is of profound significance for this modern day. It puts in a nutshell the problems both the world and the Church are currently facing. It also provides the solution.

Iโm very grateful I came across this book. It gave me a different view on the obvious problems women face today. To me it is the best book I have read in a while.
