Worked right out of the box, perfect timing.
Bought this distributer because of the reviews to replace a stock foreign distributer in my 68 Camaro with a 327. Out of the box the unit was packed well and looked like a quality casting. It even came with crimp connectors for the power leads. These wires were also 18 gauge and a quality primary wire. There was not much under the cap except a small sensor where the points would be. I oiled the distributor and dropped it in. It fit perfectly. I wired it to the coil without the ballast resistor. It has 12 volts to the distributer. I set the timing to 12 BTC and got another 6 degrees from the vacuum advance. The vacuum advance is adjustable. The engine runs great and it corrected the problem I had with the old distributer. For the price I paid on Amazon this is a bargain for a quality automotive part. I will report in a few months as tot he reliability. Buy with confidence.

Fantastic distributor for the price. Just finished a dyno session on a Chevrolet 355 ci. this unit was able to help produce 513 hp at 5,800 rpm. out of the box, perfect dist. for street performance. running, edelbrock 2x4 air gap intake, dual edelbrock 600 cfm carbs, 1.5:1 compression, Pro Comp heads, hooker pro comp long tube headers Milodon 7qt pan and Amsoil 10w30 oil. yes there are more expensive ones out there and cheaper ones as well, but I am convinced this is a great distributor for the price. And I have wasted money on both, with 48 years experiance as a state licensed journeyman mechanic. And a lifetime of street , circle and drag race experiance. This engine is now in a 27 Ford flat top Tee coupe, and it is a beast, weighting only 2,500 pounds. The engine now has 6,000 miles on it and still runs strongI have been using and installing Pertronix ignition parts professionally for 44 years since 1971. Mke sure you use only high quality spark plugs gapped .040 to .045, quality secondary wires, timming set properly for all stages of advance including total at 32 to 36 degrees. If you dont have the tools or experience to set it up right, shop around for a professional with the correct understanding and knowledge of all igniion systems to do it right,

I buy these for car projects that need the "original" look form the 50's/60's. They work great! Easy to install and almost zero maintenance.

Good quality, wouldn't work.
In addition to Pertronox coil and spark plug wires, I bought this Pertronix as a replacement for different 3-wire electronic ignition distributor. I followed included instructions for the Pertronox distributor and coil precisely, but was unable to get my 86 year-old car (with SBC) to run. Removed the Pertronix and reinstalled old distributor (kept the Pertronox coil) and engine would run. Removed old distributor and reinstalled Pertronix, still wouldn't start. I removed the Pertronox again and replaced it with the old distributor. I have the battery grounded to the frame, the engine grounded to the frame and body with clean grounding points, so ground isn't an issue. After three tries, I gave up.

Original look
Had a HEI on this but because of intake runner couldn't get timing set. This is smaller diameter gave me plenty of clearance plus it gives an old school look.

what a terrible product. could not time the engine at all and spark was so erratic and intermittent the timing light couldn't even flash properly. JUNK. too bad I did not get to install it soon enough and ended up missing the return window. waste of money
