Deep Amber
I've been looking for a good permanent vegan hair dye for ages!! I'm a natural redhead but I like to add a bit of extra shine and vibrancy and this does the job! It's a rich coppery amber colour and looks lovely and natural. It's pretty easy to use and mix. I used a mixing bowl and brush but you can do it straight from the application bottle. The colour may come out differently if you have blonde or darker hair, however it's pretty true to the box. Mine was a gingery/orange base before adding the dye. In between I use Adore semi permanent hair colour in the shade French Cognac as a toner to keep the vibrancy. It's a perfect colour and classy and I will buy again.

Fades really quickly.
It looked amazing when it went on (after fully bleaching my hair it really did look like the colour on the box) however, after 1 wash it clearly lost colour and by three washes it is just a faded pink. I had it applied by a pro hairdresser and had it blended into a semi permanent electric blue colour. The semi permanent blue is still vibrant whilst the permanent purple is unrecognisable

PPD allergy sufferers AVOID
I purchased this product due to it’s listing of being PPD and being more suitable for those with sensitive skin. I thought it was certainly worth a go and purchased a could of boxes ready for patch testing and dying my hair. Unfortunately after washing the colourant off my wrist after the 30 minutes, my wrist began to swell and it has burnt into my skin. Dermatology have given me a list of ingredients that should be avoided in PPD allergies as they cause just as much of a problem, and one of those is o-aminophenol / m-aminophenol in hair dye products. Amazing that this product still has that in, although dermatology have said it’s right alongside it.Very disappointing as I was hoping this would be something I could use, but it turns out it causes a reaction just the same.

A permanent colour that washes in ... and washes out :-(
This red dye faded even quicker than my normal brand. I’m probably no more than 30% grey and it states it will 100% cover my 30%. Although it did cover lift and lighten my roots, but by wash two, they’d turned lighter red, even slightly pink where my hair has a sprinkling of grey. Made it stand out worse than ever. I normally dye my hair every 5-6 weeks, but had to resort to my own brand after a couple of weeks due to my light pink roots!

Great hairdye that's also animal friendly
I got this yesterday and dyed my hair with it, and I love how the colour has turned out ☺ I also love the fact that a) it hasn't been tested on animals, and b) it is vegan ☺ The plastic gloves are tighter, though, than the ones that come with Live, so it was a struggle to get them off when I had finished with them. I suggest paper gloves instead, possibly with a biodegradable coating, because there's more than enough plastic in the world as it is ☺✌🌍♻️

Impressive
I’ve been on a search for cruelty free black blue dye! All the traditional ones colourcrazy, direction , manic panic only seem to take when you have extremely light blonde / bleached hair. I’ve grown my hair out from bleaching but my ends is still bleached. my natural hair is mousy brown and the colour took absolutely beautifully all the way to the ends. I used one bottle for a little over shoulder length hair with thin hair. Hope this helps!

Really impressed
Loved this!! I have quite dark brown hair but the colour was really vibrant and didn’t fade fast. I would definitely buy again and the smell and condition of my hair afterwards was amazing

NOT PPD FREE!
I have bright red hair but can only achieve this through bleaching then dying with semi permanent dye. I only use cruelty free products so I thought it was unachievable especially as most permanent dyes contain PPD - which I am allergic to. I bought a few boxes of the 2 different reds from this brand. It clearly states NO PPD. I used the first box. My head was really itchy & hot (which only happens when I'm allergic yo something in the dye), dried out my hair (but it does contain ammonia so fair enough on that point) and the colour....washed out in literally one wash using cold water & paraben & sulfate free shampoo. Not impressed. I was even less impressed when I looked at the next box I opened. It clearly states that this product contains PPD and resorcinol. Resorcinol is a really nasty toxic chemical found in a lot of box dyes. It was the PPD that really made me angry. I have had severe allergic reactions to this chemical, and have witnessed other people's faces/heads blow up like balloons who used it. This is really serious and I'm pretty sure illegal. If this company had just not made the claim that the permanent red dyes don't have it in, this wouldn't be an issue. They don't make this claim for their black dyes. This could actually result in someone's death and I'm astonished that Smart Beauty are doing this. As for the colour, as I stated, lasted one wash, which makes it useless.
