The mute you'll never get rid of.
Easily get rid of several mutes from your bag with this Softone product. Based on where you seat the mute in relation to your bell, you can get distinguishably different sounds out of it, and has a very low footprint in your case.

It's convenient.
The pictures I've included compare all 3 sizes. The large tenor trombone size is in the middle in both pictures. One thing that I'd personally recommend is to buy the bigger size if you're uncertain about the size. I'm too lazy to check it right now, but from what I remember, getting too small a size is much worse than too large a size. If it's too large, it'll catch on your bell and remain lopsided, but if it's too small, you won't be able to put it on fully, so it'll regularly fall off.

Value
I am finding it very useful as a warm up mute. It is a better option to carry as a warm up mute because it is lightweight and takes up vey little space in a gig bag or mute bag. I do think based on the sound it produces it could be a good alternative to a bucket mute for those on a very tight budget

Replaced my bucket mute
Fun! Make sure you check which size you're getting... this one works well with my King 2B, a very small horn. The "practice mute" function, which allegedly happens when the neoprene edge is flush with the bell and the mute is blown up like a balloon, is not really very quiet. That is a secondary function, though. This has absolutely replaced the bucket mute for me. It sounds like a bucket mute, doesn't scratch up my horn, goes on and off easily, and fits into my mute bag easily.

Mute for trombone practice
The product mutes the sound for practice and works well as a bucket mute.

Need an in between size.
I have the bass trombone size but it is too big for my 9.5 in bell. So I tried the large tenor but it is too small. I primarily want to use it as a bucket mute.

Decent product
This functions nicely as a bucket mute. It doesn't attenuate volume very much when used as a practice mute. The biggest advantage to the Softone mute is that it is light, soft, and easy to carry in your case or gig bag without dinging up your horn. The biggest disadvantage is it has a considerable effect on intonation, so you need to be ready to adjust position to compensate. Well made.
