One of the best aspects of this book is how quick and manageable the activities are. They fit easily into our daily routine without feeling overwhelming or like a chore. My son actually looks forward to his Summer Bridge time each day, which is a huge win! The exercises are well-designed and cover a range of subjects, keeping things interesting and varied. Review: A Lifesaver for Summer Learning — Fun, Engaging, and Effective! - As a parent, I wanted something to keep my child’s brain active over the summer without making it feel like “school.” This workbook is exactly what we needed! Why I love it: • Well-Rounded Content: Covers math, reading, writing, science, and even social studies. It gives a nice review of first-grade skills while gently introducing second-grade concepts. • Easy to Use: It’s organized by days/weeks, so it’s super manageable — just one or two pages a day keeps the momentum going. • Fun Activities: The mix of puzzles, short stories, and games keeps my child interested. It’s not just boring drills. • Stickers and Certificates: The reward system is a cute touch and really motivates my child to complete each section. • Keeps Routine Going: Helps us keep a little structure during summer break, especially on days when screen time creeps up. My child actually asks to do it some mornings — that’s saying a lot. It’s been a great way to prevent the dreaded “summer slide” while still allowing plenty of time for play. Highly recommend for any parent who wants to keep their child sharp over the summer without a battle. I’ll definitely be buying the next level for next year!

Good
Summer Bridge Activities: Grades 1–2 is a well-designed, easy-to-use workbook that bridges school to summer with engaging, standards aligned activities. Its thoughtful pacing and motivational extras make it a standout choice to maintain skills and confidence. Perfect for kids needing a gentle academic boost but those wanting heavy practice might pair it with more rigorous materials.

Material not yet covered.
This book is a good overall picture of the learning trajectory. We have the 1-2grade bridge and I had to pick and choose activities to work on that suited my daughter over the summer.. Much of this book had material we have not covered yet, and she is advanced in LA and average in math. I find it hard to believe the majority of kids in this age group have mastered this book after 1st grade completion. Even now, into 2nd grade, I grab this book for our “on the go” days to do more pointed practice and challenge certain concepts! He tried several supplemental books like this and they are usually too easy and not varied enough. I will get these summer bridge books in the future for sure.

Perfect for the summer after 1st grade
I’m not a teacher, but I’ve been working with my son through the summer on this book and I think the content is spot on. Also ran it by my mom who is retired second grade teacher, and she agrees. It has perfect chunks of material that can keep my son‘s attention and allow him to successfully complete each section without getting bored or frustrated. The breadth of material is solid as it incorporates, math, language, reading comprehension, some science concepts and a fun little fitness activities. Would highly recommend for busy parents who want to keep their 1st grade grad up on their learning through summer!

Great book!
Great activity book! I purchased this so my kindergarten daughter (at the time) do not forget what she has learned during summer break. She enjoyed workin on them and it was recommended by the teacher. This book keeps kids away from video games and other electronics. This will keep you kids mind sharp and great value!

Great book with varied exercises
I accidentally bought this for my rising 1 st grader but it was a great book. He did most of it over the summer and was able to maintain his math and reading level over the summer. The exercises were varied and interesting and short enough to not be too onerous. I will buy this same brand for next summer.

Very helpful for Summer learning!
I have purchased these books every Summer for a couple of years now. My daughters love them. We set a one page goal per day and they are constantly wanting to do more than one page because they are fun! They love getting a sticker at the end of the lesson. I love that it is keeping their minds busy for a bit and they will keep up with learning and reinforcement through Summer. The added movement activities are fun to do as a family as well.
