REAL SPORTS CARS
I COULD SEE A FEW OF THESE CARS OR THEIR CIVILIAN OFFSPRING ON THE ROADS IN THE LATE 50'S AND SIXTIES.THE YEAR BY YEAR FORMAT SEEMS TEDIOUS, BUT THE VERBIAGE MAKES UP FOR IT. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE FORCES THAT DROVE SPORTS.RACING CARS IN THOSE FORMATIVE YEARS, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT BOOK.I SAW THESE CARS AND SOME OF THE AMERICAN AND A COUPLE OF EUROPEAN DRIVER'S AT CALIFORNIA EVENTS. AND MANY YEARS LATER, AT THE MONTERREY HISTORICALS.I DROVE A T.C M.G AND RODE TO COLLEGE IN BOTH AN ALLARD AND A KAISER DARREN. LATER OWNED THE ALLARD.THE BOOK IS GENEROUS IN COVERAGES OF THE CARS, DRIVERS AND SURROUNDING PERSONALITIES. POLITICS AND VARIOUS COUNTRY'S QUIRKS ARE WELL EXPLAINED.CLEARLY, IT WAS A VERY SERIOUS WAY TO HAVE A LOT OF FUN. IT SOUNDED AND SMELLED RIGHT. THERE'S PORSCHE'S AND ALL OTHERS, WITH THE ENGINES IN FRONT WHERE THEY BELONG!THE BOOK CONVEYS THE WORLD OF THE ERA RACING CORRECTLY, AT LEAST IT FITS INTO MY MEMORY PERFECTLY. IS IS A DETAILED ACCOUNT, FOR A TRUE STUDENT OF THE VINTAGE "SPORTS CAR".JUST GET IN IT AND GO.

Wonderful book, but watch for printing and binding defects
This is the fourth of Paul Parker's "In Camera" books that I've head the pleasure of reading and it is as excellent as the others. Although the photos are wonderful, what sets these books apart from many other racing picture books are Parker's insightful captions. You wouldn't think that photo captions could be exciting or funny, but Parker really brings the drivers, cars and times to life in a very few words.Unfortunately, this title seems to have had a very spotty print run. The first copy I purchased (from another source) had a broken binding and pages that weren't cut cleanly. The second copy I purchased (this time from Amazon) had ink smeared over one of the few color pages. The third copy (exchanged by Amazon for the returned second copy) seems fine. I haven't encountered these quality control problems with the other books in the series. Do yourself a favor and check your copy as soon as it arrives. But, with that aside, this is a wonderful book!

Great pictures of a great era in Sports car racing,
Great pictures of many little known cars, as well as the familiar ones. Good informative writing with the pictures. Only disappointment was no coverage of 1955 LeMans, 1955 Chapter states part 2 and covers second have of the season. Strange.

Excellent Photos of 50's sports Cars racing
My title says it all. Plenty of action shots of 1950 - 1959 sports cars. As a teenager in the 50's, I grew up loving this era of sports car racing.

Great stuff - good value
Great photos and informative captions that provide a insightful view of the era. The paper and printing quality is not great, but it is a great value.

This Sporting Life
This is he latest edition from a great series of books on motor sport in years past.As with the others published previous, this has very good use of images married with informative, extended captions making it easy to browse or delve as you wish. However long you devote to it, you will learn something each time. Background details from a clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic author bring the machines, personalities and period to life. Highly recommended and a welcome addition to the series. (The exception to the otherwise unblemished standard is one on the BTCC.)

with a wonderful mix of text and photographs (of cars
Absolutely superb, with a wonderful mix of text and photographs (of cars, drivers, spectators, circuits and sheer atmosphere in all weathers). Just a pity that the packaging was insufficiently shock absorbent to prevent the corners of the book from being crumpled in the post, which simply should not happen when ordering from Amazon.

Sports Car Racing
I have a copy of the esteemed 'Time and Two Seats' which has a limited amount of photographs to accompany the text, Paul Parker's volume makes a wonderful record of truly great motor sport history, as do the accompanying other books in this series.Roy C. Edwards
