(Old Model) Seagate 500GB Desktop HDD Sata 6Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST500DM002)

Good hard drive and good reasonable price

I purchased this Seagate 500GB Desktop HDD for my desktop computer, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. It's a standard 3.5-inch internal SATA drive with 16MB cache, and installation was straightforward. The drive has been running smoothly without any issues. It's reliable, quiet, and does exactly what it's supposed to do — great for everyday storage or as a secondary drive. If you're looking for a basic, no-frills hard drive for a desktop PC, this one is a solid choice. Highly recommended.

This has become my drive of choice for a C: drive. On this order I am using them as a clone back-up (clone 1 & clone 2 ) for a small business owner. That way they only loose 1 days worth of the work at best. It also gives them 2 chances to get back up and running with less stress. Data back-ups are done on another larger internal Seagate drive. This is not being used as a 24/365 runtime drive. That said, I can not find a really good reason to move up to the WD Black drives that would be a choice for 24/365 constantly on & high demand usage. Conclusion: Best drive for speed, durability, and price. Will be buying more. Amazon is my choice as a vendor. 5 (five) STARS TO AMAZON

Smooth and easy install, and I was able to reload all my WIN 10 Home and programs and files from a backup drive so as to save my stuff before Update Service ended. This is in about a 15 year-old backup desktop that the drive had crashed, so I want to restore this unit before too late. I am pleased with the transition and upgrade.

Needed an old model Seagate 500GB HDD for my 2012 iMac computer. Wow....easy to install and when running the internal program for installing the Mac OS...the Seagate Hard Drive worked perfectly. Also...super fast delivery by Fusion Technology

Standard hard drives are about an inch tall. Using these drives puts a little more space for air circulation between drives in a hard drive cage. Also easier to get drives in and out of the hard drive cage. I keep my computer open so I can swap devices and components in and out. The shorter form factor makes it easier to maneuver around cards and cables to get it into the hard drive cage. Not sure about the longevity. I just had a similar ST3500418AS Seagate Barracuda 500 GB SATA drive fail but it is a couple of years old. These ST500DM02 are made in Thailand also. They seem to run a little cooler than the Western Digital 500 GB 7200 RPM blue label drives. Will report back if these fail in under a year

Drive was shipped completely unprotected. Had a dent near the Sata connector. Did not last 6 months before it suffered a fatal hardware error. All be it it was only $15… you get what you pay for I hope at the new $45 price they at least wrap it in bubble wrap.
