does the job!
I actually got this to put in between our bottle cleaning station and the kitchen sink. it perfectly blocks any splash and dirt from the sink when someone is cleaning the dishes. Itโs lightweight but sturdy and is able to hold the position you put it in. great product!

Actually: 3.5 stars
It was smaller than anticipated, but looks like of good quality. It can stand independently without additional support; however, it doesnโt look like it can contain high-trajectory oil splatter due to its height.

Rather pleased with this purchase!
My stove is right next to a painted wall so I wanted something to protect the wall when I cooked. The metal is a little thin and flimsy, but it folds away neatly which anyone can appreciate when space is at a premium. You will want to be mindful when hand-washing that you do not bend/warp the panels. It's probably not the sturdiest spatter guard out there, but it will cut down cleanup time for years to come and at a bargain price, this is totally worth it to me. The guard is obviously designed to fit best around a single "separate" burner (like what is shown in stock photos) or some configuration where there is a flat surface, but they can be used on ANY stovetop, they just won't sit quite as "pretty". My gas stovetop has 3 long grills running front to back, not ideal for this product, but the guard balances around whatever area I'm cooking on and does what I wanted it to do: contain the spatters and protect the wall. Absolutely no complaints from me. Love the nonstick surface because cleanup is so easy. Also, the guard that I got has rounded, rolled edges so there was nothing sharp to cut or snag on (purchased November 2016). I agree with other people who left reviews, the sharp edges are probably an older design that was phased out over the years.

Mediocre and not built to last; very thin metal
Amazon says three stars means "It's okay." That's exactly how I feel about this product, ambivalent. My advice would be to keep looking. I wish I had. My current residence is temporary, tiny and kitchenless, which I overcame with a makeshift kitchen in a stainless steel mail cart. I stuffed it with a small microwave, a countertop convection oven and an induction burner. It allows me to wheel the appliances out of the way when not in use, and to bring them out for meal preparation. Unfortunately, as neither the walls nor floor of my place are ideal for a kitchen, grease splatter was an issue. In an attempt to solve the problem, I purchased the Norpro splatter guard to enclose three sides of the induction burner. It works well enough, but not in a way that inspires me to recommend it to anyone else. It feels flimsy, and I do not expect it to last. The size is a bit small, which is, I suppose, my fault rather than the product's. Normally, I cook with pans that are at least 10" in diameter at the brim. The splatter guard's panels are just a bit smaller than what they need to be to enclose the pans effectively. The sides splay out to accommodate the pans, meaning they don't truly enclose three sides. A significant portion of both the left and right sides of my pans are left open, belching grease spittle as before. I was aware of the dimensions when I ordered. I knew it would be a bit short. I resolved to make do. I cannot blame the product for being what was described, but it is worth noting that unless your pans are quite small, the splatter guard is unlikely to wall off three sides. In short, the design seems a bit daft. Nevertheless, my substantive complaints have more to do with materials, sturdiness and apparent durability. Bottom line, the aluminum is shockingly thin. I expected the panels to be slightly thinner than a cookie sheet. Nope, they are no more than several times the thickness of commercial foil, probably very close to the thickness of the walls of a soda can. The splatter guard possesses the rigidity to stand only because the edges are rolled into thin tubes. On the bright side, the same thinness that makes the aluminum susceptible to warping, bending and denting also makes it easy to repair, but I anticipate it will eventually result in terminal hinge failure. Although I have not yet had problems, I can foresee that the hinges where the panels join will eventually fail with repeated opening and closing because of the malleability of the thin metal, rendering the entire splatter guard useless. This is not a complicated product. It is only three non-stick coated squares of aluminum joined by two hinges. There are no miraculous feats of engineering to perform, and yet Norpro has managed to make a product that feels weak and poorly made. The solution was simple: Use slightly thicker aluminum. The guard does reduce the amount of grease splatter that escapes my cooking cart, but it is not of the quality or durability that I would expect for such a simple product. The best I can say about the product is, "It's okay."

I just love these and plan to give a bunch to friends who like to cook.
I LOVE these! They are perfect for keeping your counter and backsplash clean and limiting the splatter when you fry or saute food on the stove. I pop them in the dishwasher by putting them in an "L" position (two aligned for one long straight side plus one section turned 90 degrees to create the short side of the "L"). (Honestly, I don't bother washing these after every single use, if not completely greasy, but I do own three so that if one or two are in the dishwasher, I will always have one available.) Every girlfriend who visits is intrigued and interested, so I just ordered TEN (!) and plan to gift these to many of my lady friends over the course of the coming year. It's nice to have a little item on hand to give someone when visiting their house. I know that a bunch of my friends will remember seeing mine and oohing and ahhing it. (By the way, if you have a really large pan or a large griddle, it's handy to have TWO on hand.) These have a nice rolled edge, which is unlike a pre-historic version I got from my mom years ago that had sharp edges. Although the description claims that there is a nonstick surface, I don't really see that; there may indeed be a clear coat of lacquer on these, but there is no teflon-type matte non-stick surface that you might be used to on non-stick pans.

Less to clean
This shield works great. Make sure you are there at all times. Once I had an oil splash and some flames came out. It protects the area behind the shield which makes it easy and less to cleaning. I have bought several, gave it as gifts. The nonstick does get messed up both while cooking and in the dishwasher and it looks kind of miserable. That is no issue to me, the main thing is less cleaning. Easy to store. I have one from 2018, that one looks really miserable, but works great.
