Berserk: The Flame Dragon Knight - Kindle edition by Miura, Kentaro, Fukami, Makoto. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Berserk: The Flame Dragon Knight. Review: Great for Berserk fans - Great read for Berserk and Grunbeld fans! Review: Grunbeld could be Guts brother (if he didn't serve Griffith) - Simple yet surprisingly emotionally deep. The translation makes the writing seem off sometimes, but just remember it's a translation and it's fine. I was like "Grunbeld? Oh all people to make a book about from Berserk?" Bu then you realize he's complex and you root for him, just like Guts, and it gives you a perspective that everyone from Berserk universe is like that, deep and rich. It's awesome. Thank you!

NOVEL, not a manga
First and foremost, this is a NOVEL with a couple of illustrations. It is not a manga. The backstory, writing and character development behind Grundbeld’s story and his road to becoming an apostle is peak, detailed and exactly what you would expect in the dark, grisly world of berserk

Very cool
Wish there was a few more art pages, and there are a couple small typos, but very cool nonetheless

A good read for Berserk fans!
This book is a good backstory for Grundbeld a character in the Berserk Manga. If your a fan of berserk this is a must read. Hope we see more back stories on apostle characters we see in Berserk. There's also some few pieces of art that is amazing at capturing what's described. As always the art is amazing when it's shown.

read first !
I don't quite understand why so many people dislike this book... I've seen people mention how edgy it is and at some points it seems ridiculous but the book is literally what berserk is, it's just in novel form. Besides the many people saying not to read this because it's a waste of time, don't listen to them!! Read the book on your own and form YOUR own opinion about it. I really did enjoy this book and glad Grunbeld has some lore to him since he's one of my favorites besides Zodd (Zodd lore when?!). Some parts really had me on edge, it certainly is a page turner and a quick read! The novel overall is literally so interesting and every page just keeps you hooked.

Wish this was a manga instead of a light novel, but it’s still good.
The God Hand is a quinquevirate of demonic sovereigns who act as executors of the Idea of Evil's will, by virtue of their desires being intrinsic to the entity. They reign over the apostles as their masters, and are responsible for facilitating the demonic reincarnation of beherit bearers during sacrificial ceremonies. They have orchestrated many significant events that have largely affected the course of humanity and the state of the world. Each member of the God Hand was once human and is a previous owner of the Crimson Beherit, which distinguished them as individuals destined to be reborn as the demon sovereigns they serve as. In 216 year increments, they each attained their proper forms during the festival known as the Eclipse.

It’s ok.
The story itself was amazing, as is everything miura does. However, the writing quality wasn’t very good. It read like it was hastily translated...about the same quality as the more forgettable dragon lance novels. Worth a read if you’re a die hard berserk fan, but it was a little disappointing after such a long wait.

The book itself was a nice way for me to end off my berserk reading, I was left unsatisfied with knowing there will be no more authentic berserk written by Kento Miura, but seeing the last parts of his final work and the splashes of incredible art inbetween certain parts of the story was really nice. Also this story makes Grumbeld and all of the apostles feel more human which is very nice.

The novel was delivered on time and in perfect condition as promised. It was a great purchase, a simple story by Fukami with amazingly detailed panels drawn by Miura.

Berserk: The Flame Dragon Knight is a PROSE work on the story of Grunbeld's rise to the Apostle we know him as in the Manga. Included are ten full page illustrations from Miura that are what you expect, amazing. And what is winthin the book is what you would expect from any Berserk story. Brutal. I was excited for this novel when I first heard about it two years for if this was placed into the manga as a flashback it would only delay the main story-- and we know at what rate that is going, sadly. And Grunbeld has always been a character I wanted to explore more since he first made is amazing appearance and face off against Guts years ago. So if we can get backstory books on the likes of Skull Knight and Zodd I would be over the eclipse ... I just hope they are written better. This book is poorly written, sadly. And I think it comes down to the translation. Duane Johnson does a great job on the translation of the manga but he also has Miura's beautiful and majestic art to help as context. In a prose format HE has to create that immersion from the original himself, and well, it could of used some refining. The structure and flow is all off and typos are abundant. However I still enjoyed the story within regardless of its writing flaws. This is a book intended for Berserk fans so if you want to see more backstory novels like this, please support it and add it to your collection!
