We rent our house and the wiring is a bit dodgy, so we need a light with some kind of plate. Does anyone know if this would be ok.

I would get your landlord to fix the dodgy wiring as it's a fire hazard. After all you are paying rent for the property.

I received this today but it will not fit a standard b22 pendant. the hole is too small. i took the adapter ring out and mow it is too big. help!

The light shade's mounting ring is a standard-size lampshade. The reducer ring is needed for E14 & B22 lamp bases / light sockets. For E26/E27 you can remove the reducer ring.

Can this fit on a 4 pin fitting?

No sadly not , I had all 4 pin fittings when I moved in , but changed them to normal as the bulbs are expensive and wasn't lasting as long as they stated
