Nintendo DSi Console - Blue [video game]

The Nintendo DSi brings a cool level of interactivity to your DS. You can now record sounds and take photos - both front and back - with your DS! On the downside, it only plays DS games - it cannot play old style games. Nintendo DSi Review Rather than giving you a lot of cold statistics that you can find on the many marketing sites out there, let me instead give you my actual, personal observations after playing and using this DS. We have owned pretty much every version of a Nintendo handheld that has come out over the years and avidly enjoy them. This Nintendo DSi is definitely a worthy successor to this line. For players of older games, it's important to note the DSi only plays DS style games, not any older games. That is quite fine by me. There are a TON of DS games out at this point and many older games are compiled onto DS format. If you really want to play an older style game, get one of those older style units. The units are very cheap at this point. The focus of the DSi on only DS games means it is light, thin, and very easy to use. The DSi has TWO cameras - one facing forwards, one facing backwards. This means you can easily take photos of yourself and friends! We had a ton of fun taking photos of each other, of our pets, and using all of their morphing and kaleidoscope features to make great images out of them. You can save the images to a SD card for use on your computer and printing out. I love the microphone tools. You can record 10 second blurbs and add harmonies, raise or lower the pitch, and do other operations on them. This is a lot of fun as well. The unit comes to you pre-charged which is awesome. It means you can start playing games the moment you get it. Instant gratification is a good thing! The image size is great, larger than previous DS units. The audio quality is great as well! This really is an awesome handheld gaming unit for all of the latest generation games. I'm really enjoying their easy to use interface, and looking forward to all of the games I'll be able to download wirelessly. It's important to note that the DSi uses a different type of charger than the original DS, so the two aren't interchangeable. The DSi of course comes with its own charger so you don't have to worry about buying one. It also comes with an extra stylus. I am really enjoying the DSi. You might say "it's only a little brighter, only a little larger, only a little lighter." However, when you're talking about a tiny unit that fits on your hand, it is often those tiny improvements that make a huge difference. The small lightness boost makes it easier to hold and carry in a full purse. The brightness and better sound give that much more fun to the gaming experience. While some might scoff at the microphone and camera, both are great fun. The higher quality sound means I can actually now use this as a MP3 player! It uses AAC format. This is a standard format and there are free converters out there if you tend to use MP3 or other formats. To summarize, I love this unit. If you don't have any DS unit I would definitely get this one rather than one of the previous DS units. If you already have a DS or DS Lite I'd recommend giving those to a younger sibling or friend, and getting a new DSi for yourself. I pre-ordered the black DSi and Amazon didn't disappoint. It arrived on the 6th, just 1 day after the Sunday release date. I already own a DS Lite and I have really, really enjoyed it. I bought this unit for the larger screens, the ability to purchase and download games directly to the unit via the new DSiware (like WiiWare). I installed a 16 gb Ultra II SD card for storage. If you want to connect to your wireless network remember this: If you use a WEP key you can use connection setup spots 1-6. If you use WPA or WPA2, you have to use connection setup spots 4-6. It works really well. I registered with the online shop and they gave 1000 points free towards downloading games in exchange for the points. Currently there are games ranging from 200 to 800 points so you can get more than 1 game for the 1000 free points. I didn't think I would like the camera or the recordable sound features but I ended up having a good time with them. The top screen displays my pictures and you can start a slide show function that rotates through your photos using nice transitions and background music. The larger screens are easier on my eyes. The sound is improved to my ears. The matte black finish means no finger prints. The menu system is an excellent feature. This design idea seems to lend itself to a longer life. If you are a Nintendo fan, you will enjoy the changes but you cannot play GBA games on this. They gave up the GBA slot for the SD slot. If you don't have a DS, you are really missing out on a entertaining 'hobby' that isn't for the young only. It provides many hours of entertainment and a great way to get your mind to 'let go' of the day's stresses. 3 generations of our family each have one.

I purchased this DSi, for my niece as a replacement for one my mother purchased for her in 2009. Although I purchased a used console it is working perfectly and I think a testament to the longevity of the console. Although the technologies may be a bit outdated compared to today's standards it does still have nifty technologies (apart from the ability to play games) that my, now 17 year old, niece still utilizes to some extent. -The camera and the "distortion" effects it is capable of is still entertaining. When she first received in 2009 she/we had loads of fun taking crazy pictures with various effects. We've discovered that is still fun to goof around with though it is has been surpassed technology wise by many apps available for smart phones and tablets now (2016). Still fun and functional otherwise and the photos can either be stored on the device or on an SD card, which wasn't included but accommodates any SD card up to 32 GB. -The Internet is also useable in a pinch but times have changed greatly and she prefers her laptop and smartphone for Internet purposes. Altogether I am extremely happy with my purchase and so is my niece. -She is still able to play her large collection of games without purchasing the 3DS, which gives her motion sickness, and she expressed zero interest in the Nintendo 2DS. She loves this one, as she did her original, and that's what mattered to me most of all. The proven durability, based on the lifespan of her original DSi, is the icing on the cake. This console will eventually be one of her childhood "classics" , just as the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) console is for me and was for her father.

The product came with it's respective accessories and charger. The console came in good condition and fully charged, although the L and R buttons weren't as responsive as someone would expect and the case has a few scratches, but that's normal for a used console (even more considering it was 11 years old when I recieved it. Unfortunately, the console died last year, but it will always remain as one of my favorite consoles of all time.

it was amazing! came fully functional and was very clean out of the box. it only had 1 very small dent but that was it. i must say im very impressed

Originally bought this product so I could trade Pokémon between games, and I didn't expect much out of it. However, this little Ds turned out to be really fun to play, and after a few minutes you barely notice the difference in size between it and the XL counterparts. Not to mention, the only aspects of it that could be considered "poor quality" that I've noticed after having it for around 2 weeks are limited to very minor paint scratches near the hinges, with absolutely nothing else being wrong with it. For the cheapest price I could find on tia specific Ds, and the speed at which it arrived, I would definitely recommend this item for anyone looking to buy.
