Adventure Time: Card Wars: Finn vs. Jake

Like the episode it takes a coupla hours to learn how to play but eventually after several games of play you can become a Card Wars Super Amadeus. fans of the show will love it and the cool reference from the episodes such as Flooping the Pig, Husker Knights, Archer Dan etc. I play Magic the Gathering and this is a lot less complicated. You have 4 lanes and each person has 25 life. the goal is to protect those lanes with your creatures and defeat your opponent by whittling them down to zero life. It's that simple. It kinda get out of control with the damage tokens though, so that's probably my one small insignificant criticism of the game and you only limited to two action at most (there are some cards that gives you additional action). There is no explosive growth of action like in Magic the gathering (i.e. mana ramp). Jake's deck is basically a beatdown win asap deck. While Finn's deck require a little finesse think of it as a control deck. So yea you kinda need to be a Card Wars Super Amadeus to play it. Overall it's really fun if you are a fan of the show. It's FLOOPING AWESOME. If you're trying to get a deep game experience ermmm you just got to pray that they blow it up and get more expansion set, I really hope they do. I believe you can even combine other decks and make a deck of your own so that has a lot of potential for replay value. I would really like to see an Ice King, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, Lumpy Space Princess deck in the future. Definitely gonna grab the BMO vs Lady Rainicorn deck when it gets a little cheaper, it's kinda pricey for now. So don't be a dweeb, be a cool guy and purchase this game already.

I purchased this after watching the "card wars" episode. I was kind of reluctant to buy it due to the reviews, but it turned out to be awesome! Do not expect the same game F&J are playing. Does not have the super crazy rules and holographic table (which is no problem, I mean come on) along with the cards they used are spread across the games. E.G. Immortal Maize Walker and Wandering Bald Guy come with the BMO&Lady deck as well as the volcano and cave of solitude in the Bubblegum&LSP deck. Aside from that, the game is amazing! Very similar to Hearthstone where you have you minions attack each other an your opponent. The package came early, was in perfect condition, no cards missing, and has all the right area cards. One last thing, aside from the bad reviews and Jake's (above) quote, the game is not complicated at all. Just study them carefully, I had the rules learned in 10 minutes of opening the rule book. If adventure time is your thing, this is a very nice addition to your collection!

This new and unique card game is a lot of fun to take for a spin! The directions were pretty straight forward and my brother and I already felt like pros with our stock decks after a couple games (Finns Blue Plains Deck and Jakes Cornfields Deck) Finns deck revolves around drawing cards, moving creatures, and removing the other players "lands". On the other side Jakes deck is based around the cornfields. The cornfields boost either attack, defense or both. making some creatures such as "corn dog" a huge wall. The games can last from thirty minutes to an hour! At points in the game you feel you have the upper hand then as soon as that happens the tides shift. Neither deck is better than the other in my opinion. but if you're either an Adventure time fan or an avid card player and want to try something quirky and different I would recommend you to give it a go! PROS: The game is simple to explain, easy & fun to play, and actually kind of addictive. the rules are complex enough to require an element of skill, but simple enough that you don't get bogged down in the tiny details of card abilities or spells. a "long game" can be finished in less than an hour (short compared to others, where a long game might take 2-3 hours). The cards are well-designed, graphically and materially, have a good feel, the art is funny and bizarre, and the decks sometimes take after the personality of their characters (I've played the Finn & Jake, Ice King & Marceline, and the Princess Bubblegum & Lumpy-Space-Princess decks). some of the game mechanics are genuinely somewhat innovative. the game really strikes a good balance between strategy, probability, and rules. CONS: some of the decks, while still usually remaining within the confines of their characters, are massively overpowered compared to others. it seems like each pack comes with a stronger and a weaker deck. Jake in particular probably has one of the strongest decks in the game, while Ice King probably has one of the weakest (which reflects the fact that Jake is supposed to be a super pro Card Wars player, and Ice King usually loses to the "good guys"). some of the rules or card powers can be vague, and I've had to make decisions on interpretation with the other player many times. The lack of official multiplayer rules can be annoying, but I've played 2 games with 3 players. Hero cards (sold separately) range from nifty additions to downright game-breaking. some decks and cards can exploit basic game mechanics in genuinely unfair - or at least unfun - ways (for instance, by doing damage to a player based on the number of cards in their hand). Decks sometimes have themes, like Jake's Corn deck and Princess Bubblegum's Nicelands deck, and it definitely seems that theme-deck-characters have an advantage over non-theme-deck-characters (like BMO or Finn). Essentially, this game is a nerd-parody of Magic: The Gathering, hence "flooping". As such, if you're familiar with the basic mechanics of MTG, then you'll really enjoy this game, and pick it up very fast. it's actually a pretty good small party game too, if you open the rules to multiple players. some fundamental concepts: there is no upper limit on the size of your hand, so it should be as large as possible so you can maximize your available strategies; keep your lanes occupied at all times while simultaneously trying to always keep your opponents lanes empty; and always try to maximize your damage every turn, preferrably to your opponent rather than his creatures.

This game is a lot of fun. Recieved it yesterday and I've already played two games. Won both! I just have to say one thing, the Jake deck is somehow overpowered. No matter what...Jake gets a good hand? Gotta fix that! But the directions are easy to follow and the game easy to enjoy! Great game of CARD WARS!!!!!! P.S. When you are bored, this is something you will really have fun with and break the boredom in a second!

I picked up this game to play with my girlfriend. We game quite a bit, and I was looking for something customizable/strategic but not overly complex (like Magic the Gathering). We're both casual Adventure Time fans, and the gameplay looked fun, so we decided to give it a shot. Right away, I noticed the poor quality of the materials. Thin cards and crappy cardboard markers. Many of them tore while we were punching them out. Not a great start. The rule book is not all that well-written, so it took us a while to figure out the rules. 3-4 times we had to consult the internet because the rules just weren't clear. Once we were able to play the game we realized a big problem: Jake's deck is very overpowered. Especially for new players, Jake's deck is going to win 80-90% of the time. Finn's deck is pretty good once you get the hang of it, but whoever plays Jake's always has the advantage. Also, the game is SLOW. It just doesn't feel exciting or fast-paced, and keeping track of all the markers is kind of a pain. We tried buying the Adventure Time Card Wars Collector's Pack 2: BMO vs. Lady Rainicorn Game but we ran into the same kinds of issues. Poor quality and BMO's deck is highly strategic (and not easy to win with). Overall, there are better games you can play with two people. Unless you're a huge Adventure Time fan (who is also very patient), I don't recommend it.

Me and my young adult friends are absolutely hooked. we play every Saturday after work and I have even got some of my coworkers into it during our breaks. Once one learns the rules one can pretty much teach any newbie how to play and they will be able to do things on their own after one match. Admittedly, I am not a battle card person at all and only some of my friends have played Magic the Gathering and/or Pokémon but whether this is one's first card game or one of many they will most likely enjoy themselves. The cardS are ridiculously funny, the game is simple enough to understand but can get very complex if one truly strategizes, and it never gets dull. I have thoroughly enjoyed this and I'm glad I exposed my friends to the game (even ones who do not like Adventure Time). However, I got both my decks for 20 dollars each. Sellers bring your price down for these people.

My twelve year old son lit up like a Christmas tree when we gave him this as a gift. He can't play it enough (and I find it pretty fun too).
