KMC Z51 Bicycle Chain (6 & 7 Speed, 1/2 x 3/32-Inch)

Chain broke second day. It looks durable but chain link was bent and broken on my rockrider 340 whike riding on an easy terrain

The original package was open and the final joining link was missing. The chain looked like an used one.

The chain fit into place as if it had been there from the factory. Thanks to the special lock that came with the kit, my son was able to install the chain himself.

Excellent Bike chain, totally worked for my bike. The first one I bought I made couple of mistakes so I ended up buying another one and that worked out. While it is not advised when cutting a chain to reuse the riveting pins that are already on the chain. I have reused the rivets and have had no problems at all. What I do is before reinstalling another part of the chain, I put a drop of oil on the chain rivet, clean up the excess, then using a chain tool I carefully replace and push the rivet back in place making sure the rivet makes contact. Then after the rivet is in place I give the chain a slight bend and then I check that it's rolling like all the others. If there's any advice I will give to others buy chain rivets when reconnecting a chain, never reuse the rivets already on the chain unless you have to, but like I said I have had no problems with the method I used. But I agree with the manufacturer and other mechanics that it would be wise that you replace the chain or just make sure you buy new connecting rivets that work for your chain when reconnecting links. One thing I have learned is that when installing and threading a chain into the rear derailleur is when pulling the derailleur down put the chain over the top pulley wheel then under the bottom pulley wheel. What I love about this chain is the master link or quick link that comes with. They connect easily and it's even easier if you have master link pilers I used Park Tool MLP 1.2 Tool. That makes the job so much easier and faster than using needle nose pliers or your hands. Chain installment can be confusing, usually it can be guess work. KMC unlike some manufacturers actually tells you the narrowness of the chain on the packaging. Also if your using products from the same manufacturer like Shimano that manufacturer will tell you to use only Shimano products, well you can but it's also possible to Mix and match products. I highly recommend this chain, it's easy to use and install and very affordable.Highly recommended!

Excelente cadena, muy buena calidad de los materiales y de manufactura. La instalación es extremadamente simple, gracias al eslabón "missing link" que viene incluido. OJO: viene incluido con la cadena. No lo dice en la información del producto y por esa razón compré aparte un missing link, que al final no ocupé. La cadena debe ser recortada de acuerdo a la bici, para eso se necesita un tronchacadenas. Si tienes la cadena anterior puedes medirla y después quitar un eslabón externo extra, que será reemplazado por el missing link. La cadena nueva debe quedar entonces con eslabones internos en los dos extremos, que serán conectados con el missing link funcionando como eslabón externo. La instalación se hace sin necesidad de utilizar herramientas. La cadena no es direccional, así que da igual en qué sentido se instala. Se coloca el missing link, se frena la rueda trasera y se empujan los pedales hasta que haga click el missing link. ¡Listo! En el frente de la caja dice que es para 18-21-24 velocidades, pero en la parte de atrás dice que 8-12-18-21. Aunque en la descripción del producto también dice que funciona con bicis de 24 velocidades, en mi experiencia, en las de 24, la cadena hace ruido y no creo que sea bueno para la vida de los engranajes (aún cuando la cadena dice "narrow" no es suficientemente estrecha). Quizás para un uso de emergencia o temporal sí esté bien en una bici de 24 velocidades, pero yo no la dejaría permanente. Para las de 21 velocidades es óptima. Nada de ruido y los cambios se dan muy suavemente. Después de usar cadenas SRAM y Shimano, tenía ciertas dudas con KMC, en parte por la gran diferencia de precio. Nada, KMC también elabora excelentes cadenas. Y su instalación con el missing link es mucho más simple que con las otras que usan pines. Altamente recomendada.
