I never recovered my hand strength and trying to get jars open is nearly impossible. I've bought all the gadgets--rubber grippers, giant grabber claw things, etc. But this is the first thing I've purchased that works easily every single time. It works like an old fashioned can-opener. You hook the little lip under your lid, pull up and it breaks the vacuum seal on the jar and then the lid easily twists off. Recommended especially for people with weak grips.
