Why do you use symbols not photos? Don't photos work better?

Using symbols instead of photos means the concept is generalised. A photo of Mom's car means going in Mom's car. Not Dad's, not Grandma's, not the babysitter's. And what happens if Mom gets a new car? A car symbol ensures consistency.

What makes your visual supports much more durable?

Our visual are made from non-toxic plastic. The images are printed directly onto the plastic, so they can't split like laminated card, & are waterproof. They won't rip or crease like cardstock, yet they are lightweight and semi-flexible for safety.

What size are the board and symbols? Why are they this size?

The board is A3 & the symbols are 4.5cm. An A3 board is great to either display on the wall or keep handy on the desk. After much testing, the symbols are the perfect size for young hands to hold, yet large enough to easily see.

How many symbols come with the board?

The board comes with 24 commonly used symbols, chosen in consultation with our customers. Because it uses hook and loop fasteners though, it is compatible with your existing PECs symbol library.

Can this be customised?

Unfortunately not, because the plastic printing process means symbols need to be mass produced. However, it comes with 24 pre-printed symbols that have been chosen in consultation with our customers, and symbol expansion packs are available.
