Free Spirit

This was such a good album…. I have a lot of favorites on here….. such a bop-filled album.. Love it. #SPiRiT #Khalid

I rarely purchase CD's but my 10 year old and I (35) both like him and my car is old school. We LOVE this album. Its chill music which is nice during out 1.5hr commute to and from school/work. CD and case came in perfect condition. Not sure what else you can say except...try listening to the WHOLE album instead of just the radio/YouTube hits. Thinks it's really good compared to what else is out there! His voice is sick!

Khalid really shows his beautiful vocal range and styles in this Album(I have the CD), The quality of the recording is among the best in my collection. If I had one minor issue with the whole Soundstage created on this recording, I’d bring up his vocals more forward prominently in the center stage. Audiophile Guy rating 👍👍👍👍👍

New to this artist, but was ample quality sound and well packaged.

Perfect record top to bottom Perfect melodic pop record. Khalid knows melody. Also I must say. When you rate an album poorly because it came damaged or cracked you make the artist look bad. It’s not the artists fault the cd was cracked, and you’re not reviewing the condition something came in. You’re reviewing the item so other people know whether or not to buy it.

Needless to say the content on the album is amazing. More importantly, it’s a good quality press. Very happy with the vinyl quality. Maybe one of the cleanest sounding presses I’ve ever purchased.

My favorite song from this album is Hundred and Bad luck! ♥️🔥 seriously can’t go wrong with anything from Khalid!

Some of the other reviews, I feel, were harsh for this product. I love every song! Play it every day! Like Khalid says on one of them, he's "not doing this to be loved", he's "just doing this to be remembered; let the people play it if they want to... ." (Track Title: Self). I definitely will be playing the album over and over again!

ダブ，エレクトロ･･･およそ今風のサウンドなのにソウルフル。例えば，ZAPPだとヴォコーダーがソウルフルに聞こえるように。弱冠21歳のＲ＆Ｂアーティスト，カリードが放つセカンド・アルバム。 朝日のようにブライトで神々しいまでのシンセ・サウンドをバックに，伸びやかに歌い上げられる「Intro」で，アルバムは幕を開けます。イントロって言うと小曲のイメージがありますけど，これは立派なバラード。続く「Bad Luck」は，柔らかなギター・リフと囁くような優しい歌声が印象的なミッドテンポ。軽やかなギター・リフでしなやかにうねる「My Bad」は，どことなく郷愁を誘うメロディーが胸に染みます。 で，本作の最初のハイライトの「Better」。感傷的なメロディーを内省的に淡々と歌い上げるヴァースから，オートチューンのコーラスも交え，ゆったりとしたグルーヴでしなやかにスウィングするサビ。エンディングのオートチューンによるシャウト・・・心をグッとつかまれる最高にソウルフルな1曲。 中盤から後半にかけては，佳曲が多く，本作2回目のハイライト。「Paradise」は，脱力感漂うブルージーなナンバー。哀感たっぷりのサウンドとほど良いスウィング感が何とも心地良いです。「Hundred」は，軽快なギターとソリッドなビートのアップテンポ。物憂げで感傷的なサウンドにニヒルなヴォーカルが加わり，孤高を想起させます。タイトル曲「Free Spirit」は，草原を静かに揺らすそよ風のように優しいメロディーで心地良く流れるバラード。ファルセットを交えながら，遠い日の出来事を懐かしむかのように歌い上げるヴォーカルに思わず胸が熱くなります。 終盤では「Alive」。美しくも悲しいメロディーを奏でるギター。今にも折れてしまいそうなほど繊細で感傷的なファルセット・ボイス。涙モノのバラードです。これが本作3回目のハイライト。 もっとも，この他にも，透明感のあるサウンドにファルセットのコーラスが清涼感あふれる「Don't Pretend」，ミゲルあたりがやりそうな沈鬱で混沌としたサウンドが印象的な「Self」，時には伸びやかでソウルフルに，時にはファルセットで囁くように歌い上げる「Talk」，退廃的な美しさを漂わせるロッカ・バラード風の「Heaven」など聴きどころは満載。 カリードは，ジョージア州フォート・スチュワートで誕生。少年時代に両親の離婚から，軍に勤務する母親の仕事の関係で各地を転々とし，ドイツで過ごしたこともあるとか。軍の音楽隊で歌っていた母親の影響で音楽に目覚めますが，Ｒ＆Ｂシンガーにありがちな聖歌隊出身のようなキャリアはなく，YouTubeでオペラ歌手の歌いっぷりを見ながら自己流で歌い方を身につけ，音楽投稿サイトに自らの歌を投稿して注目を集め，プロ・デビューを果たしたという個性的なキャリアの持ち主。自身もフェミニンなどと中傷を受けた過去を持っているからか，LGBTや自死の問題に目を向けた曲を歌い，故郷と自認するテキサス州エルパソに売上の一部を寄付するなど優しい人柄だと評判です。エレクトロなのにソウルフルに感じるサウンドは，そんな彼の人柄がにじみ出ているのかもしれません。今後が楽しみな新鋭です。
