In over fifty years changing oil on a variety of vehicles, I have never been defeated from removing and changing an oil filter. That day arrived recently when removing a filter from my 2017 CRV. The filter cap wrench just rounded the flutes to where I couldn’t get the stubborn filter off. I ordered this wrench and within a couple minutes the offending filter was off and a new filter was installed. Definitely worth the price to face on hand. NOTE: Upon removal the filter actually popped when it broke free using a 24” breaker bar. It was then I noticed that the filter was some funky brand installed at a Honda dealership in Kansas City last year. I’ll never go back there again.

Once you have put this oil filter wrench into position around the oil filter with the ratchet to counter clockwise position, the wrench will grab on the oil filter as you move the ratchet. BUT, you must use you other hand and hold on to the wrench as you turn the ratchet. Otherwise, the oil wrench won't hold, and basically will pinch into the oil filter itself! So, one hand to hold the oil wrench into position, and one hand to turn the ratchet counter clockwise to get the oil filter out!

The teeth of it are short so unless your filter is right there with plenty of space and a towel handy to help get it a grip. Then it may work. Don’t expect this tool to be handy or day to day useful. I personally don’t find it durable or worth using as i found it to be useless.

While it is a reasonable product, it may not be suitable for compact or space-constrained settings.

Was able to change a stuck filter (smooth oem type) on my Kona without jacking it up. Plastic cover the bottom except a 4" hole for the filter. Needed a 3" extention, but worked great. Was tight under the car, so one handed took a couple of tries to get it to lock in; if I was smaller or lifted the car it would have been a cinch. Very good device for a good price. The only thing I will do is wrap the fingers with some etape for grip.

Used the tool to remove the oil filter from my Dodge Ram 3500. I had to use a 6" and 3" socket extension so that my wrench had clearance to turn.once the jaws were put in place around the oil filter. The jaws clamped firmly around the oil filter body but I had to hold the extension shaft as I turned the wrench otherwise the grip would loosen on the body of the oil filter. Definitely better than trying to reach up and use your hands to loosen the oil filter.

Works as it should. Low profile gear set on a deep "cup" Needed for a tractor oil filter blocked by a loader frame, with no area close to block. 3/8 drive with 1/2 inch adapter is handy too.

If it had a magnet to assist in holding it up it'd be the 100%perfect. Great tool
