BG Electrical 822U3 Double Socket with 2 X 3.1Amp USB Sockets-30 Year Warranty-2 Pack, White, 4 x 18 x 9.6 cm

With the amount of things needing USB charging in our house is continually increasing I thought it a good idea to change a couple of our wall sockets to these USB styled ones. The original sockets in the house are from when the house was built 40 years so probably needing upgrading. These were a very very good price at £21.99 for 2 with free delivery it beat the biggy electrical shops such as screwfix and Toolstation. They are standard white slimeline white sockets so they’re practical and discrete. All the edges are rounded on the socket and the switches which makes then look more modern. We got an electrician to fit them when he was here doing another job for us (water, electrics and gas we never go anywhere near in our house as we’re not great diy’ers). The only slight annoyance for me….(and I’m finicky about adverts, company logos, slogans and stickers on new products as I hate all of these things), is that there’s writing on the socket stating USB sockets (duhh that’s obvious) why the need to write it on the front of the socket! Why not keep it plain! Sorry. It might be just me this 🤪. Apart from this little niggle they’re a nice looking socket. I really like the screw hole covers too. They’re a nice classier touch to the older versions. The USB slits DO NOT SWITCH OFF with the plug socket switch….so be aware if you have young children and babies. I don’t know if these can harm and stay live like the plug socket part if something is poked in the hole with curious hands!! Simple clean lines and modern and were easy to fit according to the electrician. Also from BG a reputable UK company with all the regulations and CE standards etc on their products. They arrive in a sealed twin pack plastic 2 (not individually packaged). I’m really happy with my purchase. Great price for 2, quick delivery for free and from a good well-known brand. 👍

Bought for the Bedrooms. They look great and easy to fit if you know what you are doing. I think they will last for years if you take care with them

Bought 2. Managed to replace a double socket at side of my bed with one and it works really well for charging my 2 phones over night. I had difficulty with the fit due to the thickness of the inside workings, and just about managed to get the front screwed on. The other one purchased was unable to fit onto the next back box due to there being a bit more mains cabling inside, preventing the socket front from screwing down flush.

With so many devices requiring USB charging, we found we needed 4-way gang extensions in the lounge and bedrooms. These sockets replace the need for that, tidying up previously messy and dust gathering areas. The sockets are easy to install with colour coding for the wiring and look more stylish than your average squared-off double sockets. Highly recommended for an easy and inexpensive upgrade wherever needed in the house.

I thought I would just have to take 1 socket out and put these new ones in but no. The new ones are a lot bigger inside than the old ones so I had a hell of a job bending the wires so the covers would fit.

The images don't match with the product that arrived. There are 2 USB ports, but one is a type C. The face of the plug comes off to get to the crews. So if you want to match the estetic with your other plugs, these, withe the glossy white face will stand out.
