Quality and they work.
These are quality made and it's great to see the water drain from the holes after the supply is shut off. They look like they;; last 20 years, Good price, well made.

Works Perfectly – No More Water Explosion!
Replaced the original backflow preventer installed by my builder, and this one works much better. No more water shooting out when I turn off the hose. It handles pressure changes smoothly and is easy to install. Highly recommend for anyone looking to avoid the mess and ensure better water flow control!

Seems to be a worthy product
Not much to say that isn't already covered in other reviews. It works as intended and as required by our local codes. It's a pain to have water spray out the release holes, but I find mine doesn't do it much. The neighbor has a new house with faucets with this function built-in. His sprays every time he turns on the faucet with just a short open hose connected. I got a wet surprise when refilling my water bottle! I have three of these outside and each one is slightly different in terms of when it sprays, if it exhibits a slight whistle when running, but they all fitted real easy. I used the security screw and the head just spins off easily once the desired locking torque is achieved on the small set screw. Had no issue so far.

Works for preventing exploding garden hoses!
This product is a valve that opens to the sides if there isn't more pressure from the source side holding the valves shut. I had a problem with hoses sitting in the sun and exploding from the pressure buildup. The way this works to prevent this is that if the pressure builds up higher than the source pressure (if the spigot is left on, and controlled by a sprayer, as is our setup) due to the sun heating the water inside, it allows the pressure to relieve through the sides. The only downside to the setup is, as many have mentioned, that when you switch the spigot off, (and the hose isn't open at the other end, ie if it is attached to a sprayer or valve) it will release a quick spurt of water out the sides, and potentially get you wet. This is due to the elasticity of the hose. It would be a lot more of a spurt if you're using a shrinking hose. If there was a higher minimum pressure to allow the valves to open, it would be perfect. But I'll take the minor annoyance to prevent more ruined hoses (and flooded patios).

Put a Stop to a Leaky Issue - Outdoor Faucets
I was tired of getting sprayed by our outdoor faucets every time I turned one on or off. After a brief time researching it became clear this is what was failing on the old faucets. Purchased 2. Hubby installed. Wife is happy. Easy to install. No issue with fit. Love that I could purchase here. Arrived quick and solved our leaky issue.

Works exactly as described and designed
This backflow preventer/vacuum breaker does exactly what it is supposed to. Please make sure you read the entire description! It does have a weep system to bleed off pressure that builds up in your hose when not in use (like sitting in the sun) so it will drip at the connection when not in use - this is by design. Also an important note: the set screw is designed to break off to make the install permanent. If you don’t want it like this either do not install the set screw or go to the home improvement store of your choice and get some Allen head 10-32 set screws. They work perfectly and are removable if desired. Overall, a good product that works exactly as described and designed. Most of the negative reviews are because people do not understand the design of the valve.

Spews water when shut off.
Spews water when pressure from line is dropped. I was led to believe this one was different but it is not.

No issues. No leaks. Good quality. Cheaper than big box. These are a very good idea if you run your well water outside.

Our house is 5 years old in a new subdivsion. I damaged it during removal one day and decided to replace it. I found this part and was identical and worked as a direct replacement.

What can I say, it's a vacuum breaker, technically needed by code on garden hose faucets that don't have it build in, spits some water back out when you turn the water off
