Top quality padded seat
This is a top quality product. My one complaint is that I can't determine the country of origin. I'm hoping we're hanging on to the ability to make toilet seats. I chose this seat after Wal-mart quit carrying the U.S. made Magnolia brand in favor of yet more inferior product from China. Several things make this superior to other padded seats I own or have owned; First this seat is made over a rounded wooden base. The Magnolia brand in contrast uses a flat wooden base and relies entirely on the padding which can result in some discomfort. Second this seat has a really well-made and durable hinge. I have one toilet that has been problematic with the common 2 separate hinges design. The single hinge design of the model I chose solves that entirely. The fit and finish on the hinge is also quite good. It's also easier to attach securely than any other I've installed. Third the vinyl is top quality as well. No bunching or failure of any kind so far. This is a real problem on most padded seats but the Comfort Seat is holding up perfectly.

Better than most, but not good enough.
The first one I ordered didn't take long to come apart. The second one arrived broken. I gave up on it at this point. However, I have found most soft toilet seats to be not very durable. And this one actually seems to be of better construction than most. When I say I gave up, it was that I've given up on padded seats in general. I've gone back to a hard seat. The biggest problem I've found with the padded ones is that the hinges are all plastic, and as such are not very stable or durable.

Good Toilet Seat for the Price.
Good, comfortable toilet seat that works well. Installation was very easy and could be done by hand. I have seen at least one review that said the nuts can not be turned by hand. I think that may be true if you get the nut started slightly crooked. But I tightened mine by hand all the way without any problem. Another thing I have seen mentioned a few times, is men have a problem with the seat staying up when urinating unless they HOLD the seat up. I did not experience this at all. Perhaps, it is because the toilet I installed it on is the old style with the higher back, and perhaps the contour of it allows it to stay up, because it does. I have no complaints with this comfort seat. The quality is good for the price which I consider to be very reasonable.

Cushy comfort, but with a "guillotine" warning for men...
This toilet seat is thickly padded, as is the lid. While that's comfy to the backside (especially for those who sit on the closed seat while drying off from a shower, for example) it poses a "danger" to men. The whole thing is so over-stuffed that the toilet seat/lid just won't stay up for those who stand to urinate. Unless you brace it with your knee while peeing, the whole thing will come slamming down on ...er... your tender bits in mid-urination. While men will object to that of course, it's the women doing the housekeeping who will object the most to splashes of urine around the toilet as the result of that collision of toilet seat/lid on the exposed man's body part. Other than that seemingly minor complaint (which isn't so minor), this product is very well made of high quality materials and an attention to details. The mounting hardware is especially attractive. It is a snap to install. As observed, women will love it, men will curse it except for when they need to sit. This product made me actively consider having a urinal installed... but that's too much a radical idea for most --especially women who might object to the "men's room device" in their home...

chrome hinges seized up and broke
It was a nice pretty toilet seat for a little while. But when I buy something I expect it to last and work, this didn't. It was sturdy yes, but it was very heavy. Hard for a five year old to set down softly due to it's weight. Then the chrome hinges started to act up, the left one seized and kept seizing. The metal eventually snapped and it was tossed out. I headed back to amazon and bought one similar only with twist off plastic hinges and it is 100% better. looks as good, is lighter, and lasted longer. Gave it 1 star just because it is built up to be sturdy and long lasting, and it didn't last at all. I was okay with the weight of it, but spending over 30 dollars on a toilet seat that breaks after a month was angering.

Padded comfort? Keep Looking!
Like you, the reader of this reveiew, I was hoping to find a padded seat that was well-made. Well, after a using one of these now for a few months, I would agree that it's "better-made" than the ones commonly sold at retail stores. As other reveiwers have noted, the structure is much sturdier and the vinyl holds up good too. However, if you're like me and want PADDING, keep looking! The real breakthough in padded seats awaits the obvious: good quality foam! This seat does not have it. After only four months, the foam has collapsed everywhere on the seat, except of course, where there is never any pressure. It's a huge disappointment, as was the exquisite "Zofa" by Kohler which was even more expensive and thus an even greater disappointment. I would advise you to stay away from that product too. It's indestructible but not at all comfortable. The shape is wrong, and so is the material. Closed-cell foam seems to be the perfect solution, but no one is apparently offering it. Kohler claims to make the Zofa with closed-cell foam, but it's basically rubber, and not soft rubber either. Good quality foam is what I was hoping to find in a nicer padded seat. Except for its sturdiness, this seat fails miserably like all the others.
