Unique but not too crazy
I have gotten so many compliments after coloring my hair deep velvet violet! It really is a beautiful color! On the box it looks purple but in reality it looks more of this reddish, brownish violet. I colored my hair a month ago and I wash my hair twice a week (it's long and very thick) and the color is still there, still just as beautiful. I started off with having blonde highlights over my natural medium brown hair, I colored my hair medium brown to even it all out and about a week and a half later colored it with this color. The only downside is that it's very hard to capture the color on pictures. It looks like a very rich brown with a hint of violet on pictures. In the sun it really stands out and you can see a beautiful, rich, dark violet color with a hint of red. Indoors it looks like a rich dark brown with some violet in it. PS - I have tried the Vidal Sassoon Salonist Darkest Intense Violet before and that one is not even close to this one. It didn't come out well, looked more brown and I didn't like that you color roots first then add serum and color the rest because what happened was my roots looked purple and the rest of my hair looked almost like it did before coloring, just a darker brown. So if anyone is wondering which Vidal Sassoon color is better, I definitely recommend the Pro Series one.

Quietly purple...
Works for me, I am absolutely enthralled with this hair coloring series, it is exactly what I've been looking for. So let me explain, I can see why some others may say it is not for them because it may not show up enough indoors or just under special lighting. That's why I love it, I don't actually want bright purple hair that people stare at, I'd much prefer the subtlety and demure quiet kind of attention. This while completely covering my grays turns my hair a dark dark purple and in the light you can detect how deliciously grape it is, therefore I can walk around with my purple hair and wear it like a woman wears sexy underwear, you don't get to show it off but it makes you feel good just knowing. Well it makes me feel good just knowing my hair is purple and I can prove it if I have to. So it's a win win for me I get to cover my grays and have my desired color. As for fading I notice with each washing it does get lighter, so I suggest not washing as often. For me by the time it starts to fade too much the grays are back anyway and time to reapply. Not drying for me. The conditioner it comes with works well.

Really pretty & lasts long!!
I usually use London Lilac but for some reason the sellers here decided to raise the price well over 10 dollars so I decided to go with this one. Yes, it is about a shade darker but this is more purple than the Lilac shade. The other issue was that even though I have used that color over a year it fades super duper fast to a reddish color and seemed to fade faster the more I used it! Whereas Deep Violet is lasting pretty well. I did my hair three weeks ago and it has only faded a bit about two inches or so from the ends of my hair. The top of my hair is still holding strong. I only used my Overtone conditioner to freshen the ends today! I may go back to the Lilac some time but for now I will stick with this color!

This color makes me HAPPY!!!!!!
I purchased this product because I really wanted my hair to be purple (my favorite color). It did change my hair to a nice dark amethyst color. I have to be under direct light in order for other people to see it, but that's okay. The only qualm I have with the product is that once it begins to fade, the color begins to turn a bright red/burgundy. I have dark brown hair, the redness has to be the base color in the product. That is the only thing that doesn't make me happy. I would, however, purchase this hair color again because it's one of the few that I have come across that doesn't require me to bleach my hair in order to obtain the color. My hair is loc'ed and I refuse to bleach it. Dyeing it is bad enough. I have purchased a few of the VS products to keep the color longer (shampoo, mask and cream gloss). So far, I'm guessing, these products are helping to keep the color from washing down the drain completely. Next time I dye my hair with this color, I will use a little less water pressure overall to see if that takes care of the problem of the brassiness I have experienced with this color :)

Hard to find
Received in a timely manner. Very hard to find here. I basically can only get it through Amazon. Good product at a good price.

Don't believe the bad reviews! I'm 57 with a thick head of ...
This review is for chocolate brown since all the reviews are lumped together regardless of color. Don't believe the bad reviews! I'm 57 with a thick head of unruly hair that is below the shoulders. This brand is the best for covering grey. It goes on orange but the color is a rich shiny warm brown. I give myself home keratin treatments 3x a year and it changes the color slightly so that I have strands of auburn running through the brown. It's not the dye, it's the Keratin. I've used every brand under the sun, and this is the only one that covers those pesky greys above the ears and fades minimally. Other brands caused my scalp to itch during application but not this brand. I was so dissapointed when they changed the formula to a brush on crime "like I. The salon" and you can no longer get the liquid in the bottle Pro series anywhere but Amazon. Hoping I can continue to get it here.

Love it!!
Vidal Sassoon's Deep Velvet Violet is the only hair dye that actually turns my hair a beautiful dark plum color. Every other over the counter dye this shade turns my hair a harsh medium red with dark red hair streaked here and there. I couldn't find it in my local stores for the past year and a half. I spent six months using all the other brands and didn't dye my hair again for almost a year until I found it on Amazon! My only complaints are it does fade fast, but that's to be expected with these shades, and it smells so strong when initially using it. With that being said, the color is still so rich and pretty I'd still recommend it!
