Every port provides power which is handy. I have one in my home office and I recommend one for every Mac Pro installation. An aftermarket USB-C to USB-B cable makes it easy to use with a MacBook Pro or other modern PC laptop workstation setups. Data wise I've successfully used several keyboards and mice, USB memory drives, USB extenders, a Flirc IR adapter, and even a cellphone. It's also handy for charging or supplying power to USB devices. The only thing I don't like are how bright the LEDs are in a dark room. A little tape on the power supply solves it's LED. But it would be nice if there was a dimmer setting for the blue LEDs on the unit...or if they were amber, orange, or even red. Review: Excellent powered hub - This hub is well-built. I am running multiple external USB-powered hard drives with this, and there is no problem. Other hubs (including the house brand) have failed miserably with dismounts at inconvenient times and so on. This item did not but at the price they were asking, it had to be a good product, right? I purchased this toward the end of March. The second week of April, the guts from the inserts started coming out when I unplugged a device, (See photo) meaning I had to dig it out of the USB male device end and put tape over the broken port. By the end of April, three of the ports failed and two more had the guts pull out when unplugging a device. I thought I could fix it or I would have returned it. Too late now. Just beware this item. It's a piece of junk.
