Pretty decent tweeter in a 2 way active setup, somewhat higher end components alongside.
I gave this 5 stars because it sounds pretty good for a tweeter in this price range. Sure, you CAN buy a better tweeter, but it will cost you quite a bit more. If you're looking for something in this price range though, it would be pretty tough to beat IMHO. I've been doing audio for some time now (like 20+years home and car), and not too easily impressed, but this does the job nicely. I had a pair of dynaudio md102's that I liked a little better (not a ton better), but I sold those as a set because the midbass was lacking in the 6.5 that came with them. Still may go back to those tweets some day but they're a little spendy bought separately and not sure if they are worth the added cost. And btw, if you don't like harsh sounding hard metal domes, you'll like this ID tweeter. I'd say it's "semi" laid back, sounds quite good on acoustic or rock music, or skrillex type stuff... Male and female vocals both sound pretty decent with not too much sibilance (although some is to be expected at times or difficult passages) For highs I'm running a JL HD600/4 active via deck at 3.15khz with these on a pioneer prs-80 (awesome), and they blend very nicely with my 18sound (6ND430) 6.5" midbasses in the doors (those ones with the funky surrounds for "pro audio" applications haha) THOSE are impressive for a 6.5" btw, car audio brands in 6.5" can't hang with those things midbass wise, my previous 6.5" dyns and focals were put to shame in the midbass dept by those, with the focals sounding better on midbass vs the dyns, and dyns better on midrange, but midbass lacked. The 18sounds are great in the midbass dept, and quite impressive on vocals, so bye bye to the big names there. Have no rear fill and everything images quite nicely, a little pickier than my dyn's on imaging, but not by much. For sub I'm running a single JBL W12GTi with approx 1100w RMS ported at 3ohms courtesy of a rockford T1000 (best subwoofer I've ever owned btw, loud, quick transients (even in ported enclosures) and digs very deep, sounds like the accuracy of a sealed with all the benefits of going ported, it's like the "best of both worlds" subwoofer if you have a tiny bit more space available. Stellar setup and the image dynamics hang with everything else quite nicely.

good teeeter
Best tweeter below focal utopia and rainbows. Likes a sharp crossover at 3k. Better on axis, loses low range off axis so there will likely be unequal crossovers.

Huge but worth it
I'm picky, but I do like the ID 'sound.' Good luck installing these monsters. They give you zero hardware, brackets or crossovers, just some mounting rings and grilles. I used metal HVAC tape to fasten to the factory dash panels in a '12 Ridgeline. Had to move some clips and nibble some plastic but they fit...just barely. Quasi-laid back but very efficient is how I'd describe these. Replaced a pair of Pioneer component tweeters (D1730C) that were god awful.

Very very happy with everything
These are a wonderful wonderful pair of speakers. I like sound quality with some volume and these couldn't of done the job any better. I have 4 of them on axis (pointed towards me) and they are so smooth. I describe these tweeters as very inoffensive sounding. The range is very very very balanced. If you're looking for piercing highs and blasting low range these are not your tweeters. If you are looking for something you can turn up and down AND sound great at every level these perform great. For some brand comparison I had some hertz ht-25 forever and decided to upgrade and these are a good improvement on an already good original Tweeter. I originally bought some seas prestige 27 and they sounded like sh!t probably the worst pair of tweeters I ever owned and I have even bought some Walmart boss tweeters before as a joke to a friend and THOSE even out performed the seas.
