Solid amplifier for the price
I bought this amplifier to power a modest 5.1-channel home theater system that is still a work in progress. The MM7055 5-channel amplifier is paired with the Marantz AV7005 preamplifier (now out of production and replaced by the AV7701), Klipsch Heresy III speakers and a Klipsch SW-110 subwoofer. This Marantz amplifier produces clean and powerful sound that fills my living room effortlessly. To extend the 5.1-channel theater experience, one or two MM7025 2-channel amps can be connected to accommodate 7.1-channel or 9.1-channel surround sound, respectively. The MM7055's continuous power output is rated 140 W per channel at 8 Ω (20 Hz to 20 kHZ with a THD of 0.08%), 2 channels driven. Frequency response is 8 Hz to 100 kHz (±3 dB) with a SNR of 105 dB. The amplifier measures 17.3 (W) x 7.2 (H) x 15.1 (D) in. and weighs 34.6 lbs. It carries a 3 year warranty for parts and labor. The MM7055 houses the same push-pull circuit used in some of Marantz's high-end amps such as the Reference SM-11S1. Furthermore, it offers the same high efficiency power transistor as the more expensive amplifiers, allowing for an enhanced supply of power. This Marantz utilizes also a large high-efficiency transformer. Collectively, these internal components allow the MM7055 to really shine and provide an instant, powerful audio range with minimal distortion. I find the sound to be lush with warmth and detail. The highs are delicately crisp and the bass responsively punchy. The sound stage that is created is impressively wide and deep yet natural, giving the stellar reproduction of a live concert performance. The MM7055 offers connections to a preamplifer with either XLR input connectors for balanced input or RCA input connectors for unbalanced input. I have set up XLR connections with my preamp. While turned on, the amplifier heats up quickly in my glass-enclosed media center cabinet. The built-in cooling fans run quiet and are barely audible; however, they do not do an adequate job dissipating the heat that is generated. I decided to purchase an external cooling system which prevents the amplifier from running too hot. The MM7055 is no longer made in Japan but rather in China. Other than these quibbles, I do not have any major complaints with this amplifier. The MM7055 is a highly recommended product that is an excellent value purchase.

Vibrates
Never even plugged it in took it out of the box set it on my rack wasn’t going to hook it up for a few days. I’m waiting on my electrician to drop some wires. Had some music playing I was hearing this vibration couldn’t figure it out looked around and looked around. It’s the amp the cover on the amp, vibrating like crazy. 👎👎 looks like it probably took a pretty good beating during shipping that might have something to do with it. I don’t know, but if that’s the case, they should package it better… have another one on the way we’ll see if it vibrates or not. If so, I’ll be looking for a different brand.

Great amplifier!
This unit is Phenomenal! My comparison reference is the Emotiva XPA-2 (gen 3). The Emotiva is no slouch it is a solid amp. However, for the same price the Marantz MM7055 is better in multiple ways. 1. Aesthetics – look feel and build quality are far above. 2. Power- this amp is smoother and stronger. 3. This amp is five channels that can run my entire 5.1 system. Whereas Emotiva is only two channels for the same price. Also, less performance IMO. 4. It matched better with my Klipsch towers. The Emotiva tends to want to over-drive them. Whereas the Marantz gives them more precision and oomph. No distortion, just deep, clean and very precise. I highly recommend this amplifier. It is the best that I have ever owned. Price to performance is excellent!

Great product for this price
I have read many of this product reviews; it motivates me to add it to improve my already great sound system. I expect this product will make my sound system to ultimate sound stage. But a little disappointed, after I hook up to my SR7005 receiver, I found no different sound at all. I still don't believe myself and I try to check around from speaker connections and to go through all over again using remote control to check all features on the screen to make sure every thing is all right. After test and test again all sound modes, there is no any sound improvement at all. Next day I pack and return it; I end up lost $70 for two way shipping cost. Keep in mind that if you have already used Marantz receiver for your system, keep enjoy with that there is no difference at all to add this expensive AMP to your existing system. But if you don't have yet, use this Amp with Marantz Pre Amp, you will experience a great sound scape and you may enjoy more power handling from this power amplifier. I recommend to use this AMP with Pre- AMP not with regular receiver, for you get nothing from this AMP, the receiver already has its own Amp and enough power to handle in a normal theater room at home. I am a Marantz and B&W fan for long time, and I am still searching to find the product that can improve my sound system to the ultimate sound scape.

Marantz MM7055
Well, after a few days of listening, I'm impressed. I bought this unit to go with the Marantz AV7005 preamp/processor and it all sounds wonderful. I still have some fine tuning to do to balance the surround speakers, but even without that, it all sounds great. And if I ever want an additional two channels to add to the five channels on the AV7055, they have a companion amp for that purpose. This unit sounds every bit as good as the $5K amp in my stereo system. Highly recommended.

Look somewhere else for quality.
A very nice looking paperweight. Does not function out of box. Telephone support from Marantz is exceedingly poor. Don't waste your money. Chinese garbage

Gets the job done
If there was a 3.5 stars option, that's what I would pick. It runs my system sufficiently. Although, the Marantz website is somewhat deceptive in their description of output power it still gets the job done. When all 5 channels are driven, it's pushing just under 110 watts per channel (107.8) I have very efficient speakers so it's not the end of the world. If I didn't end up with a brand new unit for the refurbished price I might be so nice with my rating.
