This knife will both stab and cut quite effectively if it is fresh and hasn't been dulled by trying to cut or pierce things beforehand. The point and edge would both deteriorate rapidly with use, meaning hopefully your fight against an assailant will be over with in just a couple of minutes because beyond that you're going to be jabbing at them with a blunt piece of plastic. It should be more than enough for a single violent encounter if you reserve it only for that purpose. If you want to test it by cutting and jabbing various things, I'd buy two. Test with one and discard it once it is dulled.
